Title: Sure grips & thumb rests?
Post by: PEARL DRUMS on November 28, 2010, 04:29:00 PM
Anybody try a sure grip on a thumb rest type grip? Just wondering how it worked and felt. Thanks for any tips!

I have not tried one but my Fedora xcellerator doesn't need one. This bow grip allows my hand to just rest right where it needs to everytime.

I know what you mean SC, my bow feels the same. I just like the "insulated" feel of a grip, and I believe it dampens the bow a touch also. Mostly wondered if they slipped over the the thumb rest nice, or if it bulked it up too much.

My friend tried to put a sure grip on his Fedora recurve and it wouldn't fit but tore over the thumb rest so it just stuck out fron the rubber grip.

David that would work, the rip may be not be all bad? Hopefully it holds together. My bow was built by a friend of mine, his thumb rest is a little smaller than the Fedora style. I may just have to spend $7 and find out!

Bjorn is the bike tube material as thick and tacky as the sure grip material? Im a do-it-yourselfer kind of guy and thats right up my alley.

If the Bike material isnt too think you could double it up, perhaps teh second layer would fit nicely over the thumb rest. Just a thought. Let us know how you make out.
