...is what I had told my wife on the phone :goldtooth: . She just about fell over!! I told her not to worry, I was just increasing my indoor range in the basement. The kicker is that I do alot of venison processing and we have a cat that I need to keep out of that room, so the only down side to this story is that I have to put up the barrier every time I am done shooting so the cat can not get in..Oh well, its a SMALL price to pay. I only had a 10-11 yard range downstairs and thought to myself.." if I could just "modify" that wall, then I could have a 20 yard range...
Enough said.. :goldtooth: So heres my "new" 20 yard range..

That's smart!
:biglaugh:
FOCLMAO.....That's great.
Perfect!!
Theres a lot of stuff to hit along that path if you miss. Aim small, miss small!
 :archer2:
:clapper: :clapper:
I LIKE IT!!
Perfect, until you decide to finish the basement like I did. But now the wife is happy with her quilting room, an extra bedroom, play room for the grandkids and the best a 650 sq. ft. hunting man cave for myself.
Nice!
Is that a fiberglass blue tank water softner I see along the line of flight?? Ruh-roh! :)

No, its steel
inginuity at it's finest.
That must be nice. I have to wait till everyone is either out of the house or up stairs. Then I can shoot from the living room into the kitchen.
Visionary!.......well sort of... :archer2:
Excellent! I've been shooting in the house for many years myself. Don't know what I'd do when bad weather or dark if I couldn't go downstairs to my range. Should have seen the look on the contractor's face whenI told him I wanted 9' ceilings in the walk-out and a clear shot from 'this corner to that one and double doors between the workshop and rec room.
I just setup my 3D target tonight. I can get a 13 yard shot from the living room, down the hall and to the far side of the boy's bedroom. The wife gets all worked up, but we only hit the wall once last year.
 "PRICELESS"
Lots of nice stuff to make you pick a target.
Tim
Tried that one time....took out the over head light bulb with the limb tip on the first shot...took forever to clean up all the little pieces of glass !! :smileystooges:
A man has to improvise in many ways!!!
A man has to do, what a man has to do!
If your wife does not find you handsome may she find you HANDY.
Nice!!, just don't sneeze on release or the hot water heater is toast :biglaugh:
That is perfect !!!!
Cool :) We don't have basements in Texas :saywhat: :bigsmyl: ...Van

A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do :clapper:
I also shoot in my basement and love it. Just don't hit that black pipe on the right - it could make a terrible mess!
It can still get punctured frassetor!
Ahem that's the voice of experience speaking above
I ended up building an angled 'deflector shield' for mine
Too expensive to replace twice!!!!! :coffee: :archer2: :nono:
Why not just make a plywood door you can open, close & lock shut with a couple hooks or something????
Good to see in our feminized society there are still real men out there. Thats the way its done boys. Do it first and THEN get permission. Right dear?....Phil
A perfect example of American ingenuity :notworthy:
That is awesome...i have been thinking about hot to broach the thought of an indoor range to teh wife...I am not sure how your idea would go over with her!!!
Nice Reno!!! Can I come over and play??? At least it's not an exterior wall!...Ryan

The coffee pot is always on my friend. That will give us a chance to chat about that "special hunt" as well ;)
If that doesn't make a feller smile nothing will! :)

What a fantastic Idea.
Is the target backing a bunch of cardboard strapped together?

Yes it is. Work at the time was throwing out a bunch of boxes, so I took them and banded them toghter and made a cheap "block " target out of them. Works great. Holds up ok to carbons, but dont shoot wood into them . I made that mistake before and the arrow was almost impossible to get out
QuoteI'm really happy I posted this thread because a few people chimed in and now I have the furnace and the hot water heater FULLY protected, "just incase". My hats off to everyone suggesting that one, you all probably just saved my hide incase an arrow does get away.
Well, I was gonna ask how long it would be until we saw a "Honey, I need to buy a new furnace" thread but looks like you took care of that issue.
I can only get 10 yds into my storage room, but nothing too delicate in there to hit.
i would have a hole in my head if i tried that but if i can plug the hole back maybe she wouldnt notice..lol
I see a lot of potential explaining and expensive fixing to have to do along the route. ;) That said, I have shoot indoors in: 1) my old trailer house, 2) an appartment while I was student teaching, 3) an army hotel room at Ft. Sill, 4) my parents' shop at home, and perhaps assorted other places I have forgotten. Nice work!! Enjoy!
:notworthy:
I jealous. If I cut a hole in my wall, I will need a rock saw and sledge hammer, then I will have dirt!
Great ingenuity.
:notworthy:
Man I wish I had your basement all I get is 7 yards inside & 15 yards if I stand in my driveway... :D
I showed the pictures to my wife and all she could do is shake her head, but she understands.
Ya know if you put in a stud right next to those sewer lines you could put hinges on the wall and just open when needed and swing closed when not. :saywhat:
Nice job, makes me realize that living down south has its pluses. Long seasons and year round shooting outside.
Sorry dude...don't like it. Already I can see a dead refrigerator & arrow sized peeholes through what's left of the sheetrock. That's if it was me. Harder I try not to hit something the quicker I do.
Always way easier to ask forgiveness than permission, Great idea I would have to do that project when the wife was at work
Next step is to make a hole in the ceiling/floor to simulate a shot from a tree stand!! Lol.Good shooting to you.
Where there is a will....there is a way :archer2:
You might be a redneck if. Just kidding . Great idea I can get 3o yards buy shooting from far side of living room into the kitchen and out the utility room to the back fence.
A fine example of dedication to archery, good Sir :)
Ha the things we do for a shot.
I like it! I wished I had one buildt now with sub-zero temps this morning.
Your wife is a lucky woman, having a husband with so much ingenuity! :notworthy: :archer2:
Awesome
