I just got back from guiding in Maine the last couple of weeks and a friend of mine had me bring back a bow to sell for him. It's a Groves Spitfire Prestige Magnum with a built in overdraw, 60" 40@28.
I'm going to clean it up in the next couple of days and try to get some pictures of it, but in the meantime I figured I'd see what kind of info was available. He wants me to sell it, but I'm not familiar with values and info on the net regarding value is a bit scarce. I know condition will have a lot to do with it.
It has two small holes in the belly from a sight, but otherwise it seems to be 7/10, with some small scratches and some checking in the finish and a couple of scratches in the 'glass overlay on the back of the riser. Tips look good and there is no twist in the limbs.
TIA,
Kevin
I shot Groves bows since the late 60's. They were way ahead of their time and many Natiional Field Archery Champs used them. You should have no trouble selling it to someone who knows and appreciates them. Great bows.
Thanks Bill. My buddy is the King of yard sales, so he comes up with some pretty nice ones. He gave me a 1965 Kodiak Magnum in 95% condition while I was up there. It will be my ground blind bow next year, if it shoots as good as it looks.
Pics will be coming soon of the Groves, but I need to get all the old camo tape residue off first.
