Anyone have a picture of their Toelke Trad Recurve? Love to see them and hear how you like them.
Thanks, David

On Dan's website  www.montanabows.com (http://www.montanabows.com)  you can click on "Current Inventory" then "Traditional Recurves". You will find photographs of his one piece Chinook recurves and a terrific little 52" one piece as well. There is another choice to click on for his take-downs.

snag,

I recently got a Chinook and love it.

The Toelke Whip longbow is very popular around here and when he introduced the Chinook recurve about a year ago, folks ordered them and I had a chance to check out the looks and performance.

It's light, smooth, quiet...or just about has all the attributes of a 50's style recurve.  His finish is exceptional too.

I had one in the past and like a dummy sold it,   have another coming in next week.

They are very quiet, smooth, everything you would expect, and finish is top notch.

The one I have coming has a Macassar Ebony riser, Myrtle Limbs,  and is the "classic" model wich has a leather grip and no thumb shelf.

Will post some pics when it arrives.

I like the design of the Trad Recurve he builds. Just wondering about the grip is and how it shoots.
Geez Lon, you're buying all the good ones out there it seems! I should just ask you what you are buying next! haha

I have the Takedown recurve, the Curlew. It's a real winner. Bow looks great and shoots better. This bow is easily the bow I would love to pass down from my kids to my grandkids one day.
And it's a real quiet bow. 55@28 and I'm shooting 29" 1916 with 100grain tips, very soft thump. Dan doesn't just make them to look great, they work great.

That's the one Chris! Love the looks of the old style recurves! How's it shoot? Grip? Is the grip rounded in the palm? Does the swell come up high enough to touch your palm?

Snag,
I think Dan will build the handle to suit your needs. If you like more palm swell or higher wrist, I don't think that would be a problem. He is definitely a craftsman when it comes to bows.
Give him a shout. He's a joy to talk to, as well.

A hand tracing and notes on what you desire is all he needs to create what you want. I LOVE my Chinook. Through heavy arrows with amazingly little loss in velocities. I can't tell the difference between 9gpp and 10gpp until I get out to 40 yds. I might add it is as quiet as any of my Whips too.  Call him 406-676-5150 or 406-253-4949.
Tell him Kent said hi!!!

I was able to get my whole hand around it but it was kind of thick but holds your hand pretty close to the shelf. I shot this bow very well. It was dumb to get rid of it. Dan can make one to your hand if you ask him. Give him a call or shoot him an email. Tell him Chris Kiefner said hey.
