Title: How much do you trim your ghillie suit
Post by: wvbowbender on November 14, 2010, 01:19:00 PM
Hey all you ghillie guys out there, how much trimming do you find necessary to get the required string clearance?  Has anyone tried using an archer's chest protector over the jacket?

i believe there has been a post on here a while back asking the exact same question. i found a green army tube sock with the tip cut off and put over your ghillie suit works best

Trimmed my Shaggie suit in 15 minutes and got perfectly acceptable string clearance with just my regular leather arm guard.

Trimmed the left forearm all the way around to 1-2", inside up upper left arm and everything that dangled down from it in shooting position, left chest and front of boonie hat.  Worked great...

Even the severely trimmed part still looks "3D" because to the "stubs" jutting out.  Pulling a sock over the sleeve just didn't do what I was after.
