This hunt actualy started on Tuesday morning. I keep a 3d target in my yard year round, tuesday morning I was leaving for work and noticed the head of my target was off and laying several feet from the body. A buck the night before had wanted to fight, scratch markes on the target face. I put the head back on and left for work.
Fast forward to Friday morning I had several does being chased around the field below where my tree stand is by 2 small bucks. So I figure if the target looked enough like a buck to spar with, what if I take the antlers off. Oh yea a doe love machine.
Saturday morning doe up and a small white piece of flanel soaked in tinks 69 hanging from a stick I stuck in the ground so it looked like her tail.No takers nothing close enough or down wind.
Saturday evening same set up, fresh tinks. Saw several deer across the field. Then I hear a deer running and a doe goes by my decoy and stops about 35 yards out in an open field. About that time the sound of a second deer gets my attention and here comes a nice (medium size) 8 point. He stops broad side at under 20 yards and is looking at the decoy. Next thing I know there goes my orange fletching through his side tight behind the front leg. He takes off out across the mowed field and into a weed field. He ran about 80 yards slowed down and made 2 tight circles and fell over.First time I have seen a bow shot deer fall in sight.
Think I might have to use the decoy more often. It did not bring him in but stopped him and had his attention, allowed me to make the shot. Im quite sure I was not moving slow and deliberat as I drew for the shot.
I cant post pics but 4runn,er knows if he doesn't, I will let the dog out every time he comes down to hunt.

Had a buck "decapitate" my 3-D deer target couple years ago 2 or 3 times. Broke a couple tines off and left gouges in the side of the body too.
I took the antlers off to protect it after that...lol Hey I need the target to last awhile.
Nice deer,good shot.
