Title: Sharpening Stingers with KME
Post by: babs on November 12, 2010, 06:02:00 PM
I was wondering what you guys prefer sharpening your stingers with. The KME broadhead or the knife sharpener. Any help would be appreciated, I never really tried to sharpen anything. Need some good info and some pointers thanks brad

KME is the way to go. Stingers come already really sharp and put them on the Knife sharpener or the BH sharpener and they'll be super sharp in no time. Give Ron a call, he is more than happy to help over the phone, and tell him where you're coming from and what you want to do, and he'll set you on the right road.. Really a nice guy who has time for everyone.

I only have experience with the broadhead system and the biggest thing is establishing the bevel because the factory 'Stinger' angle is not as steep as the KME.Once that is done on my extra course stone I go to a medium stone and then a extra fine Arkansas all the while going lighter and lighter on the downward pressure 'til your just guiding the jig across each stone.Strop them diagonally across corrugated cardboard,as Ron told me,and they're ready.I'm gonna get a diamond stone to speed up the 'bevel establishment' step though.Hope this helps.

For the broadhead sharpener, make sure you don't put too much pressure down with your finger and bend the blade.

KME is the way to go. I own the knife sharpening kit and it pulls double duty sharpening my knifes and 2 blade broadheads. Ron's coustomer service is awesome! If you have trouble getting great results just call Ron and he will talk you through any problems if you have any. IMHO you can't go wrong buying a KME.

Outwest, the KME broadhead system has a clamp for bleeder blades.

I've got the KME knife sharpner but can't sharpen the small bleeder blades with it.
