Title: Radiused shelf...
Post by: Cottonmouth on November 11, 2010, 09:51:00 PM
I've noticed radiused shelves aren't very common these days.  Is there any reason?  What did I miss?

I radius the shelf on all the bows I build, as well as the sight window.

I think the Bear WeatherRest and such have had their way with bowyers.  That and ease of manufacture using duplicator routers.  All mine have a radius and I shoot them all off a leather or rug pad.

Radiused shelves should be mandatory in my eyes. Everything we read tells us the arrow needs to sit right above our hand. Take a split tillered bow and shoot it 3 under and your arrow sits right on the front edge of the riser. Thats not good. I shoot a Robertson and Dick puts a radius on both contact surfaces, awesome machines he builds.
