I've not hunted javelina before but I'll be Stateside in the future and, if possible, would like to take my sons with me on a javelina hunt.
My younger son will be shooting about 35# with his longbow by then. Will that be sufficient?
From personal experience, is there a private ranch that you would recommend?
Seems like most of the hunts I've heard or read about took place on private land. Are there also good hunting opportunities on public land in the Southwest? Not heard much about that.
Thanks.
I should add that I'll probably be on a road trip across the States, so I'll consider any available options!
Curtis at 7th age outfitters can hook you up on a good hunt if the timing is right.
He should be back from Colorado elk hunting soon.
Mike
Thanks Mike!
Any more recommendations out there?

And here is another sponsor...
You are probably going to find out that Texas is an easier solution, even though public land is lacking. Arizona and New Mexico are on a draw, and although I spend some winter time in Arizona and roam public land in good javelina country, I see few javies. When I went to Texas, I was covered up with them on a two day hunt. In Texas, lots of areas are year round for javies and a license is cheap and OTC. And many places have a two javelina bag limit, as well. Yes, you have to pay for access, but overall it seems to be less hassle than N. Mexico or Arizona. At least, in my humble opinion.
