Ray just posted that he has the whole weekend open due to a cancelation. Their loss, our gain.
I have been chomping at the bit to get back down to Hog Heaven since my trip there this past July. We just need to round out the party with 5 more hog hunters !
Check out Ray's post in the sponsor section.

If you have been to Hog Heaven before, you already know Ray is a great host and has some great property for chasing hogs. If you have not been there before, this is a great opportunity.
So... who's in?
I would like to go,never been, have to check and see if I can get off work. I'll check tomarrow.
Brian I would love to hunt with you again! I gonna see if I can pull it off. Bit of a long shot give I get back from TX on 1/7, but I'll let you know.
wheres hog heaven? and what does it cost?
"You (both) can do it if you try!"
:D :D :D
Jan is great month to hunt Hog Heaven! Very, very few skeeters to bother you.
Sorry Brian, I cant make it as I will be there 2 weeks earlier :bigsmyl:
Good luck, I promise to leave a hog around for you guys
Everything included, travel (driving) and food and lisence, what do you think the cost would be? Coming from Chicago... Thanks.

Jeremy
Approx 1800 mile round trip (for you) so maybe $190 gas. At least two hotel nights... maybe $175 there. Food... you know yourself there better than me...the only food you'll need is road food... say $40. Ray will feed you better than your Mama once you get there. SC license $40. Then the cost of the hunt $575. Total $1000 +/- a hundred.
OR...
swing straight south the night before stay here and in the morning we ride together, split a hotel x1 Thrs night, split gas, drive straight back here Sun night, you can light out Mon morning. That should easily nock off a couple hundred. Maybe $700-750.
Maybe I missed it on the connecting link, but the only costs I saw were the $40 hog tag and the cost to get there. He can't be doing this for nothing, afterall he does have expenses.
Friends of mine have a place in Charlston and been on me to visit. I'd love to make this happen, and will check.
Ray's website has pricing (for 2010). His new price for 2011 is $575.
Thanks Brian and everyone for your interest.
my website has been updated, Brian. www.hammondknives.com (http://www.hammondknives.com)

If it comes up wrong, refresh the page...your cookies must be bringing up the old one?

January is a good time to go. You won't see any snakes before 9am or so....too cold. Skeeters don't start up till 2 pm or so.
I mmmmmmiss Ray's pepperjack grilled cheese sandwiches. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Up for the weekend.
Biggie,
In January I'm going to be making some 2 inch thick pork chops stuffed with herb-laced ricotta and goat cheese for dinners on Saturday.... as well as home made soups and pepperjack cheese sanwiches using home baked breads for lunch
Dang Ray you just made me hungry!
Folks, I aint kiddin' ya. Ray can cook! If you loose weight at Rays, you must have a tapeworm.
If you can tolerate someone who has only been shooting a longbow for two years I'll go! Never hunted hogs, sounds like a good time.
I'd be coming from Central Ohio.
I emailed Ray on the 10 and tried to call him today, to try and reserve a spot haven't heard back yet.
Talked to Ray,putting the deposit in the mail in the morning. I'am in! can't wait.
Harry
I got him on the phone today and my deposit goes in tomorrow also. Really looking forward to it.
Dan
Only three spots left, ladies and gentlemen!!!
Make that two left. Another Ohio Trad Gang is coming down with me. Email sent to ya Ray.
I'm in ! :archer: :archer:
Welcome to the group Larry !
Looks like just one more spot ...
looking foward to it, never been hunting outside of ny, I got a feeling the swamps will mesmerize me. say Brian, I see you like a good cigar, perhaps I should bring a few for the campfire?
Larry, you sound like my kind of hunting buddy. I always bring my travel humidor with me. Campfire, stars, bourbon and a good cigar... only way that will get better is if we have bacon hanging in the cooler. :campfire:
Fellow cigar smokers, bourbon drinkers AND bowhunters? This is definitely gonna be a good trip.
I'am in on the cigars and the bourbon around the campfire too!
Harry
If Rays Pigs have bacon, I would have to wonder where they came from.
I think you will have to settle for cigars, fire, friends and chops ;) .
Ray
We're gonna need a bigger campfire.
I am ready to go NOW.
if I get lost in the swamps....how many days do you leave a fellow there before you go looking for him?
How bad does he snore?
I think the standard is 1 day per 100# of weight, they tend to slow down at that point and are alot more easy to catch.
Harry
OK, I have Mr. Bowshier, I have Mr. Marshall, and Mr. Lance who've sent and I've received deposits from.
Am I missing some folks?

Two checks (paid in full) from Ohio have been mailed. Mine went out Monday, my buddies on Tuesday.

L51, they're not here yet...but I'll PM you when they arrive.
So that means I have you and your buddy in addition to Brad, Larry, and Mr. Bowshier? That means there's only one slot left.
Cool beans!

Now that's funny. Probably true, but still funny :biglaugh:

We just let the gators sort it all out
Saves on food and other expenses, don't ya know !!! :scared:
One more slot available, guys!!! ArrowK9?

Don't forget the Rebel Flag in case you need to hitch-hike outta there. They don't pick up Yankees, right Ray.

Leave the cigars in camp, if the gators get you there is absolutely NO reason they should get the cigars too!
Ray, if you didn't get the check yet, I will cancel it and Pay Pal you the money. It's only a 12 hour drive from here, I don't know where the heck it could have detoured to.
Come on January!
I received one from a police lieutenant in Ohio last night but the other is still coming
Woo-hoo! That's mine!
Don't understand why its taking so long for the mail, but the other deposit went out also. Same offer, if it doesn't show up soon I'll pay pal it for him.
Larry got yours!!
That's Brian dan Larry and Harry received so far
Is one mor coming Lt Dan? :biglaugh: :biglaugh:  Bet you've never heard that before, " Lt magic legs"!!!!!
Oh, I've heard that a time or two....
If I ever meet the man who wrote that book, I'll kick his a$$! Actually, I was going to use LtDan as my forum name but someone already had it.
One more is coming for sure, Rick Boham. I'll touch base with him and check the address he used. He's a fireman, they are always later than the cops anyway.
he he.....sorry.
Have you heard the one about the lady with the.....? :bigsmyl:
How many days do you get for $575. THANKS
Friday Saturday sunday
And a share of Larry's cigars and bourbon if the gators get lucky.
I have only one space left!!!
A question for the experience hog killers...
I understand there a lot of variables such as skill in stalking, wind, dumb luck... but if one was to put an average range that "most" hogs are taken (or shots are taken) what would it be? This would be stalking, not from a tree stand.
I'm just trying to get a feel for what I can expect (other than Bourbon, cigars and good company).
And I believe Ray still has a spot left!
Yep- one left
You'll have shots under 20 yards
Up for the weekend....
Ray, we still lacking one more hunter? Come on folks. I've got a feeling this is gonna be a great hunt.
A carpenter, a pharmacist, a mechanic, a fireman and a cop walk into a hunting camp.....
See ya on Friday boys!
