got my first centaur bow today and what an awesome bow.i did some trading with pastor steve hill who knew somebody who wanted to sell his spot on jims list.it was only two weeks out from build time so i pounced.glad i did...bow is a 62" 60@30" yew limb laminations with boo and carbon (xtl) core (four lams instead of three)i asked for a special piece of cocobolo, something with dark streaks in it.boy did he nail it.handle is just unbelieveably perfect and as beautiful as they come.also bought three of his 170gr big game heads.very nice broadheads.i couldnt be happier.this thing is a rocket launcher and smooth as they get and quiet as a church mouse.

-
Jim, make a great bow...but you know that aready.
-
Awesome bow. Love the look of those woods.
I come up in May. I can hardly wait. Mine will be a Chimera 62" 70# at 28". Low wrist grip.
-
matt.....jim had to put four layers in to reach the poundage.the xtl core and boo with it is soooo smooth.it feels like i'm pulling fifty pounds and wow is it fast, shooting my 2613's off it and they fly like darts like always.they weigh 550gr and i'd guess the speed at close to 200fps.will chrono it just for giggles.the grip on this one is a med/high.
-
Papa,
Fantastic bows aren't they? I had a Centaur and traded for a Big Jim Buffalo. The Centaur was 49# at the Big Jim was 80#. The Centaur was just a little too light for me.
That's why I got on the list for a heavy Centaur. Jim will need to use Carbon to get my Chimera to 70#. But, I bet it will be a Dragon Slayer!
Best wishes on your new Centaur!
-
matt...it will definatley slay about anything at 70 pounds.it wont feel that heavy though.good luck and thanks.
-
What a great lookin bow !! It's screaming to be shot !!! Congrats, I'd love to try one someday :)
Those broadheads plain look nasty !!
-
coaster....pay shipping both ways and i'll let you try'er out..jim has a try a bow program also.
-
Glad you got it Larry! Looks good too!
-
Beautiful bow Larry! Congrats and hope she serves you well for a long time. :clapper:
-
Larry,I am glad you are set for now.LOL.The Cocobolo is very nice I like that red/orange.
-
tw..this thing is as sweet as everyone said they were.felix..its the coolest lookin cocobolo i have seen on a bow yet that i have owned.i like the yew to,pretty cool stuff.
-
That's a real beauty. Congratulations. These Centaurs sure are sweet shooting bows.
-
Nice looking bow. The photo of it fully strung is my favorite.
-
Great bows no doubt. You going to put a quiver on it Larry? The added weight was a plus on mine for me that is.
-
tj....i'll probably put a thunderhorn on it or kanati or efa..lol..to many choices.
-
Sweet! I use a thunderhorn on mine!
-
I agree Larry, the grip on the Centaurs are great. He really knows how to build a LB. Glad you have made a new friend. Now go shoot something with it!
-
snag...i have been shooting in the house again. :D :bigsmyl: :D
-
Is there a woman in the house while this is going on? haha I told my wife I was putting a target in the fireplace...that didn't go over too well.
-
Like TJ, I found that a bow quiver helped with the lightness of the bow and made my shooting a little more stable. I used a 4 arrow EFA and that worked wonders.
-
man thats a sweetie! those silencers from him are pretty dang nice arent they?!
-
this bow is not all that light.no lighter than anything else really, perfect for hunting.newell..yes these silencers are nice and really work well.
-
Can't get over that grain in the riser wood! Man that sucker is pretty!
-
Congrats PAPA BEAR, you got yourself a real sweet looking bow there!
-
Larry, thanks for your generous offer but I think your beauty would finish this shoulder of mine !! Great looking bow !!
:campfire:
-
Now that's a real beauty. Love the Cocobolo and Yew
-

-
That is a great looking bow.
-
GEORGEOUS Larry!! Now go kill something!
-
nuttin to kill around here barry..maybe some yote's or grouse but i really only ever hunt elk unless of course a retarded deer steps out in front of me.
-
Larry
Do you think those heads are legal for use here in WA?? I'm wondering if they would consider them "Barbed" the way the back of the blades are shaped???
Either way... you have a beautiful new bow!! I'm jealous
Gene
-
l.e....dunno if they are or not but i will find out via the google method....googled a bunch of stuff..they think the blade being hooked is like a fish hook...WHAT THE HELL DOES A FISH HOOK HAVE TO DO WITH A BROADHEAD? some of these rules are a joke.
-
wow...oregons rule is the same, hope i'm not stuck with b-heads i cant use hunting.these things arent cheap and i really really wanted to hunt elk with them. :help: :banghead:
-
Beautiful bow! Congrates.
-
ok...i spoke with jim neaves and he assured me these broadheads are not barbed.
-
As long as the cutting edge and the backside of the broadhead form an angle that is at least 90 deg. you're fine.
-
snag...exactly what he told me.montana has the same rule as wa,ore, and several more states i'm sure.he wanted everyone to be able to use them as well as himself.jims good people i like the guy.
-
Nice bow Papa Bear.
I always wanted to shoot one.
What part of Wa. you from?
If you ever get over to the Olympic Penninsula give me a holler and we'll go kill a few stumps.
