Guys seem to love these. What can you tell me about them? They look similar to a Silvertip? Thanks. BILL
-
Put it on top of any BOW i have shot!Dead in hand, fast and quite. You would have to kill me to get mine!GREAT BOW!
-
I really enjoy shooting mine, it feels great in hand, seems to be molded to my palm. Brian does a great job and he is great to work with.
-
Finest curve out there in my opinion!
-
Absolutely love mine. Excellent craftsmanship. Smooth, quiet and plenty fast as stated above.
-
Barry W. has one now ,so everyone will want one...lol! :saywhat: :biglaugh:
-
I love mine. It shoots smooth and is extremely fast. Thats probably why I have a couple more on the way. :help:
-
I've got two of his recurves and just ordered a longbow. Shot a nice buck last week in Wisconsin. Nothing out there today can out perform the Tall Tines, Brian is a great guy!
-
Dirtybird your as bad as i am.I got two and want more. They fit me like a glove! :knothead:
-
Excellent grip.
Very smooth, very quiet, and very fast. Noticeable to eye fast when comparing same weight bows with identical arrows.
Fantastic value. Especially when you opt for the exotic riser or limb veneers. For the small up charge, you get the most spectacular selection I have ever seen.
The bow is designed by a hunter for hunters. Designed to be rugged and dependable, with the added bonus of exceptional looks.
Last but not least, Wessel is a trustworthy and honorable man.

VERY important to me! Oh yeah, all the other stuff is true too.
-
Love mine as well. Smooth, fast and quiet. And Brian is a great guy to work with. He goes out of his way to make sure his customers are satisfied. You'll not regret owning a Talltines!!
-
Have not shot the longbow but the recurve is a fantastic bow, no worries ordering a TallTines.
-
Made in Iowa, has to be good:)
-
Haven't christened mine yet but am very pleased with it. It was quite surprising to shoot at 1st as it drew so light and shot so fast. It's also the quietest bow I have. The handle is very precise for a consistent grip as well. I'm gonna order a couple more eventually....Ryan
-
My TT bow is very rugged. The wide limbs and full riser give good physical mass. It was dependable on my 3 week hunt to Utah and Montana. I like the 64" recurve model for a draw over 30". Mike

Great pics Mike did you have any luck?
-
I saw a 185 class mule deer the first day in Utah and passed up several smaller bucks trying for the bigger ones. In Montana I closed the gap on a 360 class elk, but failed to launch an arrow. I had good luck on grouse and took seven with the TT bow. They are great eating on the open fire after marinating in ranch dressing (I learned that from Uncle Barry). Overall a great trip and I plan to go back and hunt the extended season in Utah later this year. Mike

Congrats Mike,thanks for pics.
-
Great pics ,Nothing beats grouse. On my elk hunt this year I was as much exited about the grouse ! Thanks for sharing the great pics, would also like to thank you for your great book,Loved it ! have read it 3 times.
-
Well, keep it coming. I just ordered one and need to know I did the right thing. Lin
-
Lin,
I love mine. If you go to the product review section, you should be able to see my complete review! Brian is TOP SHELF!!
-
Thanks Buckster. I will. I keep wanting to look at the bows on his site. The one I ordered is just like the one on his home page. Gray Diamond wood. Lin
-
Can't seem to get much at the web site.... much seems to be under construction....
Any thoughts?
-
I called him today and reached him right away.
buckster, I cant find the products review you mentioned.
-
Lin,
It's on page 4 "Another Great Tall Tines"
-
Got it. Thanks
-
Lin,
Will you go with a beauty
(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/osminski/Bows/TTRisersJune2.jpg)
Or a beast?

I'm going with the gray(charcoal?) Dymondwood. Basic package. It looks so good to me now, but I may upgrade the limbs yet. Long riser with medium limbs for a 62 inchbow.
-
Lin,
That bottom riser in Steve O's picture is mine, Macassar with Bacote stripe. I am currently hunting with it and hope to get blood on it sometime this season. Mine is a 60" bow and shoots and feels like most 62" bows. Very smooth with zero stacking.
Louis

I have a question. I hope this is OK Bullfrog. I figure it goes along with your thread.
I have a few months to nail down the particulars on my bow. I am shooting a 50 lb bow now. I am thinking of dropping the poundage to 45. I see so many guys say the TT's draw seems lighter than it is. If that is true, maybe I should stick with 50 lbs. What do you think? Does it seem lighter than it is?
-
Straitshot,
We were writing at the same time. Thanks for that. It's a beauty. Is it the longer riser? My draw is 28 1/2 btw.
-
Lin,
Go with the black glass limbs...
-
Yea, that would look great with the Charcoal riser. I'm like a kid over this.
-
Lin,
Maybe this will help--my buddy Chimaster with a WI buck he took a couple weeks ago.
44# TT with a bamboo shaft and Wensel Woodsman. Complete passthru.
They feel lighter in the draw AND they shoot faster than most at the same draw weight.
-
Mine feels like 51 lbs, the actual weight I ordered, but it really smokes an arrow.
Maybe go 47-48 #'s if you are unsure, then you get a Goldilocks deal.... Not too heavy, not too light, JUST RIGHT, LOL.
-
Thanks. I dont know if it helps or hurts. :) It just makes me more anxious. That is a beautiful buck. I want this bow to be so pleasant to shoot, I will practice more and I thnk it will do just that. You're a good salesman SteveO.
-
Yep, you may be right buckster. I can still handle the weight now, but I want this to be "my" bow for many years to come and I'm not gettin any younger. In 10 years, I dont want the bow to intimidate me. Any body over 50 might understand what I mean.
-
Lin,
Sent you a PM, and I am about two weeks away from 66 and I still find 50# relatively easy. I think Fred Bear shot 60# into his 70's.
Louis
-
That 44# Bocote/Myrtle bow of Gary's is the one he plans to have when he is "dribbling his oatmeal".
He has what started as a 57# Cocobolo/Tulipwood TT as well. He had Brian take it down to 53# as he is one of those well over 50 year olds.
You will probably want at least two once you get the first one :goldtooth:
-
Watch it kid.........
-
Did I hit a nerve Biggie? :goldtooth: I guess there's a lot of "mature" guys here, huh?
I'm not complaining about getting older(much), just preparing for it. I'm depending on this bow to keep me young. :biglaugh: How's that for pressure Brian?
-
Almost christened mine last night.(it's 47#s and i have no doubt it will blow through a Canadian whitetail) Had a 125-130" 4x4 at 12 yards and just couldn't end my season yet on a 3 1/2 year old. A buddy hunted a stand I was gonna hunt and shot a 155-160" 4x4 last night as well. The TT will "go off" in the next couple weeks. This is one bow I'm not gonna get rid of, it draws so light even after sitting for 4 hours. I've got heavier limbs coming but am glad to have light ones for deer season...especially as it still shoots so fast....Ryan
-
I saw your bow on another thread. I love the limbs but cant recall the wood. If I upgrade that would be a great combination Gray Charcoal riser and ..................?
-
(http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu178/ryanderlago/talltineselkhunt024.jpg)Here's mine!
-
This is my opinion only folks.
So Ive had a few bows over the years and it became quickly evident that not all scales are the same when it comes to measuring bow weight. Thus one bowyers 50#r bow can feel like 2-3#s lighter than another.....because it is !
I had a TT marked 45# and compared to my other bows it felt lighter. Something to think about.
Now, shooting wise; that bow was awesome ! The grip is one that is different that any Ive had/have. For me it was something I had to get used to.
I am a stupid man for selling it....Dirtybird you listening???? :) Me thinks you should sell it back to me.
I am in contact with Brian about a possible new one..........
-
Joe, I always secretly hoped you would buy a TT just so I could see one of those phenomenal pictures you take!
Lin, those limbs on Ryan's bow are Myrtle, like the first ones I posted.
-
Steve, thank you for your compliment. You take awesome pics yourself....Ive been drooling over my keyboard with your TT pics.
-
Oh yeah...I forgot to mention the wood...duh! With gray charcoal I'd have to agree with the black glass...just too classy to say no to....Ryan
-
Or some Canebrake skins...Brian does awesome work on snake skins too.
Yet another one to add to the list!
-
No Lin....but that smart alecky Steve-o pushes the envelope sometimes. He'll be old too one day and I'm gonna stick around long enough to bend the spokes on his wheelchair.
MIne is 54#@32" feels just right after years of shooting 65-70#. Shot clean thru my moose with 55#'s makes me wonder why I ever went "up" :D
-
I can't say enough about mine. I have two 49@28 and 59@29 and I'm thinking about ordering a third. In fact I'm going to order a third soon...You can't go wrong, smooth, fast and quiet.
-
HEY!
I love you old guys.
Those are GARY'S words...that is why I have them in quotes.
Here, let's get back to the original point...
-
Love mine, and Lin I am 60 and still shoot 60# up to 64#, no problem.
-
SteveO,That has to be some of the most striking wood I've ever seen,Unreal.
That one Brian has for sale on the Sponsors classifieds is really getting to me.Right length and weight.
-
Joe can't thank you enough. That bow is a beauty, I've got Brian working on some heavier limbs now for it.
-
I have shot one a couple different times and I will tell you what I absolutely do not like about the Tall Tines.
Draw - The draw seemed effortless as if I had done nothing.
Grip - Fit like a glove. I prefer gloves only in cold weather.
Stability - The bow remained motionless at the shot. I like to control the bow myself.
Sound - Couldn't hear it at release. I had to walk down to the target to verify there was an arrow in it.
Shock - I like the feel of shock and vibration. This bow failed miserably there.
Craftmanship - Why so fancy when all you need is a stick?
Speed - Arrow was travelling too fast for me to keep up with.
Accuracy - The bow shot as if I new what I was doing. Who is kidding who?
-
:clapper: :biglaugh:
-
I've been waiting patiently for Brians site to get up and running. I see he has his one piece going to be posted there.
Unless any of you gents can help me out..
LOL
-
Those Myrtle limbs are speaking to me.
Your riser is phynolic, right?
I notice the arrows match well too. That was no accident, I bet. It's one of the most beautiful bows I have ever seen.
I'm still deciding.
-
Yep...it's phenolic. I'm REALLY hard on bows and Brian said it was a good pick. As far as the arrows...not only do FMJ's rock but they match nicely too. Thanks...Ryan
-
I know the webmaster is working hard on the new site. In the meantime, Lin, here are a few shots I grabbed off the old site of Ryan's and similar combos:

-
I shot Ryans bow at Denton Hill, and that thing feels real nice.
-
:biglaugh:
Mike, that should say volumes about the durability of the TallTines...I imagine you pulled that mid 40s bow to about 36"
-
Wow!! Gorgeous bows for sure.
-
Stay tuned fellas...the grapevine has it Brian's dad christened his new TT longbow on a great buck!
-
THAT'S IT....I'm changing my last name to Wessel!
-
I love mine, Brian is a great guy to work with.
-
Back up to the top. Any more photo's? :dunno:
-
I have had mine for 4 years now Steve O gave me a heads up on some beautiful cocobolo wood for the riser.I just love this bow, I have had quite a few custom bows an they are were very nice but this one just fits me great...my favorite bow I have ever owned by far!Fine bow!
-
I have two, one of which I just Christened last weekend with a fat doe. I got both of them in the off the classifieds. They're amazing bows. The grip fits my hand perfectly and they shoot as smooth as silk I took a few pictures on my cell phone, but they don't do either bow justice.
-
ttt
-
Love the grip. As fast or faster than any bow I own.
Here is mine next to my Blacktail.
The left one is the Tall Tines. Chechen riser with Myrtle limbs.
A good guy to work with.

-
I guess I posted on this thread in 2010 on page 5...six years and a bunch of dead animals later they are still the only bow I will shoot with any seriousness...I want to try a Selfbow sometime though too
Brian has been wonderful to deal with as well
(http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy206/cottonwood88/Mobile%20Uploads/image_14.jpg) (http://s792.photobucket.com/user/cottonwood88/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_14.jpg.html)
-
Yep. My opinion has not changed. Great bows and Brian is always working to make them better. I see he has a couple in the sponsor classified section right now that are available with no wait.
-
my new tundra ships today!
-
There is a reason the only bow I hunt with, and shoot for that matter, is a Tall Tines. I see absolutely no reason for me to have any other. Not that there is anything wrong with the other bow manufacturers, it's just that my Tall Tines has always done exactly what I have asked of it.
Not to mention, Brian is one heck of a good guy and easy going. Just as most every reputable Trad bow maker is.
-
In my opinion like others have stated the TT recurve may have the best grip going and the recurves perform exceptionally well. I don't know about his longbows because I have never shot one. As far as Brian is concerned, unlike some folks I have recently dealt with, he is a man of his word. One of the best bowyers I have had the privilege to deal with.
Darn, like Michael I just realized this is an old thread I posted on years ago.
-
The most repeatable bow I have ever shot. Some may be smoother, some may be faster, some may be prettier. But this in my opinion is the best total package bow out there. As stated before the grip is simply awesome!!! Mine went skidding down the blacktop at 25 mph off my 4 wheeler the other day and I almost cried. Luckily the quiver took the brunt of the damage. Brian is everything that has been previously stated.
-
Lin,
I have 55# limbs in Myrtle, and black limbs in 48#.
I bought the 55's just for elk, moose, but-
I used to want to just shoot the heavier limbs for everything for simplicity. However, the 48# limbs are pure joy to shoot, and performance is very good. I don't think I'll use the heavier limbs nearly as much as I originally thought.
Guess I should have looked at the dates as well.
-
My go to Bowyer!
I have had the pleasure of shooting quite a few bows but none meet all of my needs like a Tall Tines.
I currently own a Stickflinger that Brian made for me a few years back that I absolutely love.
Brian also has a new recurve in the works for me as we speak that should be EXTRA special!
I dont see myself using anything but a TallTines any time soon..
-
I just bought a used TT recurve yesterday. 62" and 55 @ 28". All Bacote.
Can't wait to get it and try it out!
-

You'll love it! That is a good draw weight too
-
I've had a Black Widow PSA, Silvertip one piece, and Tall Tines in the last few years. All great bows, but I shoot the tall tines the best of the bunch...
-
I have a TT recurve and it definitely has to be the best bow for me.
