i watched perhaps the most touching and incredible hunt on versus that i have ever seen in my life.tred barta after suffering a debilitating stroke, going through rehab, fighting depression and generally going through hell has done it.he's back to hunting with his barta bow.he was on a black bear hunt in canada.the effort it took from a multitude of people to make this happen was nothing short of heroic.they pulled him through a marsh in his wheelchair that looked to have mountain bike tires on it.they put the rope around themselvs like draft horses to pull him to his dream.if you havent seen this show you need to.it puts things back into perspective in a hurry.its ok to let a few tears flow people.mine did.tred barta you are the man. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Treds soul is made of IRON :)

yes it is coaster,he's one of a kind for sure.he was very emotional afterward.
Haven't seen that one, but recently saw his whitetail hunt. Amazing tenacity and courage.
I seen the white tail hunt last nite. He's one of my heroes.
Christ said we could move mountains if only we had the faith.................Tred is moving his mountains.
Tred I salute you.
God speed to tred!
Tred is a good man with a heart of steal. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Tred seems to be shooting much better too??? God Bless ya Tred..
My hat's off to his and his friends' courage and dedication.
Tred's ability to remain positive and focused is something we can all learn from. I watched him fly fish the yampa here in CO and it was awesome to see. True American Spirit
Amazing courage, attitude and tenacity.
Best show I have ever watched in my life. I almost lost it at the end when he got choked up. The mans a warrior.
can someone please tell me when the show will be on again, and on what channel, or network? thanks.
Way to go Tred!!

I watched also and yes the tears did flow. All the other people also had tears flowing as well. He is surely blessed to have good and dear friends like them to help and share his joy. He is a champion.
OUTSTANDING really OUTSTANDING ya gotta love it bd
Snow Leopard, here in maryland the show is on Versus, channel 54.friday nights at 8 pm.i also watched his bear hunt last night.i believe that was the best hunt iv ever seen im my life.said he was doing a life size mount and dedicating the bear to his best friend he's ever had,his wife.He truly lives life. That was an amazing shot too, that bear looked like it was a long ways up.I feel like i learn quite a bit watching Tred, about shooting and life in general.Saw his deer hunt the other night too.I wonder if he has hunts on video you can buy?
Tred's show was and is my favorite. It is the only "hunting show" we watch any more.
Haven't seen the bear show yet but when we watched the TX deer show last week I lost it with that show.
Looks like I had better bring my tissues along. Truly enjoy Tred and his show is what it is all about for me.

Yeah - that was a good one. I liked Tred before, but I like him even better now. Great show!
log onto versus.com and find tred barta hunts and you should be able to find it that way then watch it on your computer.
What an awesome group of friends to help him like that. I'll raise my hand as well and admit I was tearin' up. What a show.
-Jeremy :coffee:
That is so cool I can't wait to see it.
thanks gwc and papa bear. the outdoor channel i get on direct tv is "prst," and i don't think they carry tred's show anymore. i'll pull it up on the computer. thanks again, guys.
I just watched Tred's bear hunt. It is without a doubt, the best hunting show that I've ever seen.
My 6 year old watched with me, and was very inquisitive about Tred's wheelchair and how it happened. I think he was really touched as well!
I only got to see part of it, and not the ending: I was amazed and honestly inspired by this (wonderfully) crazy guy. This is a guy who has shown us all how much a person can really love this stuff and puts his "money where his mouth is" every day.
Awfully nice counter to the endless threads here and elsewhere about all the things that bowhunters find distasteful about hunting shows.
Steve
That just goes to show ya what can be done if ones mind is set on doing something with the help of some awesome people . Way to go Barta ! :notworthy:
VERY WELL SAID MP1SG!! Bless His Heart and ALL Those That Are There For Him!! :clapper:
I will agree with all the other positive comments made so far. Getting that wheelchair through the bog to the bear was a monumental effort and I commented to my wife that I wish I was there to help.
Here's a man that will not allow this devastating injury keep him from his passion.
Tred is a real hero that deserves my admiration.
Amazing commitment to live life the best he can even with the devastating events he has experienced. I loved the show and was very moved by it. Watching those people who were so dedicated to making his dream come true tells you something about the man himself I would say as well as those who made it happen for him. Can't see them doing that for just anybody.
Do I watch him for his adventures.....Some
Do I watch him because of his skills as a Trad Hunter...Some
Do I watch him for the remarkable character that he is>>>>>YES!
Way to go Tred! :clapper:
First time I saw Tred was a short promo for his show.My impression, braggart, macho man, the type of person I wouldn't want to spend much time with.Flipping channels one day, there was Tred hunting with a Longbow. That's all it took.I came to realize Tred was just like the rest of us.He takes shots that are marginal, blows stalks, great sense of humor.I sensed he had a deep need to be liked, just one of the boys.I liked that he had a respect for the animals he hunts, they were not just a furry target to be used to sell merchandise.Reading different forums I came to realize he was loved or hated for various reasons ,some real some imagined.I loved that on his hunts you never knew whether he would be successful or fail.He was able to convey that failure was acceptable. Some of the best hunts end in failure, unless you have a sponsor to push.I had no doubt that Tred would keep on keeping on, after all he is the "Man".I've noticed that since his misfortune more people seem to be looking past the "Promo" and seeing the man.Shortly after his misfortune I sent him an email, Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others..I have no doubt he has bouts of fear, but if you watch his shows he will share his courage.
Don't have cable and would love to find this online, but couldn't find it on Versus.com...was anyone else successful in finding it? I'd LOVE to see it. Tred is THE MAN!
That was a great show. To see all of his best friend pull together pulling and pushing him to the tree and him delivering the perfect arrow was AWSOME!!
Good for him. Wish him the best.
I only caught the last half of the show, but is without a doubt the most insprirational hunting show I have ever seen. The drive and determination of not only Tred, but his friends can be an example for all of us. Way to go Tred.
Truly heroic. When you talk what makes a man a man, Trad shows it all. How brave he must be to even put himself out there in his condition for everyone to see and do his thing. Most people would just want to hide.
God bless Trad Barta
sam
Right on guys,Barta is the man,and always will be.The bear hunt show brought a tear of joy to my eye.Another VS hunt show guy named Steve Scott needs to watch Tred.Mr.Barta understands hunting and his editorial speeches are priceless. Now ,the question is can Tred straighten out Benny Spies and get a Barta bow in his hand? Barta Is "The Man"!
Saw the episode yesterday. VERY cool! That was an awesome shot! A lot of courage right there to get to that point!
Also, I'd never seen a bear fall out of a tree like a big squirrel. That was neat too!
Here is a link to the story when Tred got his first black bear from his wheelchair. This is awesome!

i was reading a little bit about Tred on-line.i hadnt realized what had really happened to him to become paralyzed.said he was on his way to a hunt when he had a spinal stroke which in turn caused his being paralyzed from the waist down.and to make matters worse for him,he found that he had a type of blood cancer.his chemo for the cancer slowed down his physical therapy for his stroke. He's sure overcome alot to get to where he is now.Tred also skii's once a week were he lives in Colorado.he uses a mono skii, which has one skii with a seat mounted over it,then he holds a pole in each hand with a skii mounted on each end to keep his balance.there's a spot on the back were somebody stands to ride along with him.he was a competitive skii'r when he was younger. He's now 57.He's also on record to have caught more Big eye tuna's with a rod and reel than any other person in the world.
Besides in the bow hunting world, this guys amazing. He's achieved so much in his life, and still keepin goin.thought maybe somebody would be interested in hearing alittle more about his accomplishments.
Bravo Mr Barta and all his friends and family !
God bless Tred and all of his friends! And may we all Thank God for the good health we have.
I seen the last half of the show and it was inspirational for sure.
We don't have the privelage of Hunting shows on telivision in Australia and my first exposure to Tred Barta was when I bought a DVD of his on a whim as I'd heard about him. Nothing I'd heard / read was particularly positive. After watching the DVD I could see through the bravado into the soul of the man and realised that much of the opposition folks had of him was what us Aussies call the tall poppy syndrome - you just gotta cut em down.
So what if some say he comes across as opinionated/ loud - who cares - he believes in himself and that's a lot more than a lotta folks can do.
I'm thrilled to see the mans spirit on display and that he has risen to the occasion - speaks volumes of his character
regards Jacko
If you asked Tred what his soul was made of I bet somewhere in the description would be the words "twisted blue steel".
I first heard about Tred on this forum and decided to check hime out (I don't normally watch hunting shows, since most are just info mercials). I'll say I fell in love with his show and him. That was before his recent termoils. Now he's almost at idol status!!
TRED ROCKS
His shows have been auto recording on the DVR for 2 years now. My better looking half didn't think much of him or of me watching his shows. But I kept on while I got hooked on this sport. I met Mr. Barta this summer and spent some time with him [not as much as I would have liked], he signed my selfbow and we talked archery. At that time I had to hold his sholders back against the chair so he could draw my bow 55lbs. The smile that hit his face was worth the entire visit.
He is better in person and larger than life.
we are pullin for ya tred.by some miracle he may walk again.he's honery enough to pull it off. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Tred is a outdorsman an is fun to watch
Yep and the gag clip at the end of the whitetail episode was funny! Here's the hunt portion.
Tred Barta whitetail (http://www.versus.com/hunting/videos/the-hunt-of-a-new-lifetime/)
Tred is an awesome guy with a great attitude. I took Tred out with my hounds for the show. I would gladly have him and his crew back again as each person had a great attitude. There may be a cougar and more bear hunts in the future. Tred is a real warrior with a kind heart. He gave my 10 yearold daughter an hour lesson on instinctive shooting. All she wanted was an autograph instead she got a memory that will last a lifetime.
Doug
Right on Doug! You did a great job and as Dan says "Tred is Back".
I liked him before the stroke. I like him even better now because he didn't crawl in a "sissy hole" as I heard him once say people do in life....Phil
I happened upon his latest show where he was hunting whitetails in Texas from a ground blind. He got a small buck after missing the same deer the day before. He is inspirational and his attitude is great. He may not be the greatest shot on earth, but he is determined, persistent, and with his current condition, he lives life to the fullest. Good on ya, Tred.
WoW......Tred really shows what bravery is. And his buddy Dan shows what a true friend is. We should all be blessed with friends like that....
Saw it. Just amazing.
Tred has heart!
Good for you Tred
