Got a Silvertip that still makes a thomb noise. Literally that is what it sounds like. It is not twang or slap, it is thomb. It bothers me but not deer, i was wondering if since i am shooting 3 under is making the tiller out of wack. I bought it off tradgang and did not even ask if it was tillered for split or 3 under. It doesnt matter because i shoot it great. Just wondering if i could double up on some puffs on one of the limbs to equal the tiller out. I have bow hush on string and puffs also. If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated.
Shooting 3 under on a normal tiller does not matter. As far as making it quieter you can raise the brace height, you will probably lose some performance but it will be quieter.
Three under is a little louder whether the bow is tillered for it or not. Period. This affects some bows more and others less.
I shoot 3 under and belive it to be louder for me. If I shoot it split finger it quiets down, but my Robertson is still quiet either way and 3 under is my thang!
I shoot three under and feel even with perfect tuning it is a bit nosier. Recurves are generally speaking make a bit more noise than longbow types. I just put up with the noise it is worth it to me.
Yea i agree, i was just hoping that what i read about this topic somewhere recently that i could offset the speed of the limbs and that it would dampen the noise some. I am not going to worry about it, the doe that i killed did not say she heard it.
Longspur, What type of string are you using? Endless strings will make your bow louder than a flemish. Also fast flight will be quieter. Good hunting. Knifemaker
