Title: I wanna go home
Post by: bornagainbowhunter on November 03, 2010, 05:29:00 PM
Alright guys, this is just as wrong as wrong gets.  I am at work.  I will not be able to hunt until Friday morning.  I know activity is picking up and wish I could be out there right now.  Whats wrong?  My wife just called me and told me that there were bucks chasing does under one of my stands.  You can see this stand from my driveway.  This in itself is a good thing   :scared:

God Bless,
Nathan

Nathan do you need me to pull camp and drive down there and take control of that situation?...lol

You know I'll help if I can.

I'm sorry that you're feeling the "kantbethere" frustration.

Maybe you could go to work earlier and take off earlier to hunt evenings or go in later so you can hunt mornings and just work later.

God bless,Mudd

I know the feeling. I haven't been to the woods yet either because of work or family issues.

Working on the bridge today and saw a decent 8-pointer nose to the ground trailing hard. Right in the middle of downtown Kansas City Missouri.

I think I've cleared the schedule for this weekend though. Good luck everyone.

i definately thank God that I do have a job that is keeping me away from those deer.

Mudd, if you can come to AR, there is definately one with your name on it. The best one I have seen is an 8pt with about 10" or 11" G2s and 8" or 9" G3s, but the cool part is the spread. He looks like he is 20" wide. He is all yours Mudd, come and get 'em!!!

God Bless,
Nathan

We will put Chowder on the blood trail Nathan!  I'm going try & hunt Catche River Friday.  This will be my first time there, may get there tomorrow afternoon to scout.

NOW is the time to be in the woods as much as possible!

Nathan you coming back to my neck of the woods this weekend?  I found a good looking thicket and plan to hunt it this weekend.

Buckster i have never hunted the cache.  You know I'm not against using a boat to get to out of the way places. Got physical therapy Mondays and fridays but I'm good for the middle of the week and weekends.

Getting my lp tank filled on the camper tomarrow so will have plenty of fuel for cooking and heat.

The only thing worse than having a job is having to look for one.

I like my job but to be totally honest, I only have it to support my hobbies!

Its amazing how fast my paid time off, sick time and unused holiday hours dwindle after october 1st!

Not this weekend.  We have a revival going on a church.  I will be there next week.  I am off all week.  We can get together for some hunting, eating and gabbing whenever you have time.

Shot you a PM.

God Bless,
Nathan

Time, money and energy.  You can never seem to get all three together at once.

Just think of those poor deer:

"Where's Nathan?  How come his stand is empty?  Lets rub on the tree and scrape away the leaves in this spot so he knows we were here."

My wife called yesterday and said that there was 5 doe, and one buck in our yard.  We live in a rural subdivision and have a couple of acres.  We occasionally see deer, but it's much more common this time of year.  It's a sure sign that things are happening!  I feel your pain!

It's killin' me too bud. I drove to work this morning, 20 miles through the country and witnessed 5 different big bucks chasing does in the open fields. It took me an hour to get here  :)

I got a week off for vacation next week. Gonna make up for having to work  :bigsmyl:

Hang in there boss!

I've been laid off for quite awhile, so I would trade places with you in a heartbeat.....if that makes you feel any better? I know it doesn't and I've been in your shoes....it sucks.

I can remember trying to go in early and plan my day around peeling out of work at 2:30 or 3pm at the lastest so I could fly down the highway to my hunting property lease a mere 30min. away and if I kept my eyes peeled I could make it in 20min.
I'd hop out of the truck, strip down to my boxers, crawl into my camo, grab my bow, and almost in a stiff walk/slow trot I'd get to my stand as quick as possible. I would be in the stand 15min. before my adrenaline finally subsided enough to calm down and relax.

More times than I can count on those whirlwind Fridays doing the flight of the bumble bee to get to the woods, I'd have a blood trail to track within an hour after getting there. I've even had deer start showing up while I'm pulling my bow up the string to my stand.
Sometimes minutes do count!

Yes they do.  I killed the biggest buck i have ever killed with a stickbow was during a 10 minute hunt.  I climbed into the tree, I always pray for a safe hunt, effective shot if a shot is presented and thank the Good Lord for all he has blessed me with, then i am ready to hunt.  Before i finished praying I hear him walk up to my tree.  I was not in the woods 10 minutes before i walked out to give him a little time and get someone to blood trail him for me.  (I am color blind)

God Bless,
Nathan
