Post by: Guru on May 26, 2007, 10:02:00 AM
Trad gang has always allowed holiday threads on the holiday they fall on.I've also cleared this to make sure it was ok to post......

After seeing this in an e mail from a friend,I thought it was most appropriate for this holiday weekend.

It brought me to tears pretty quick, and touched me beyond words...have a look.....

Guru, thanks for the heads up on that very moving video.   That is right on the money.   I have had several friends over there and safely return.   But sadly on Jan 23rd 2004 I had a high school friend pay the ultimate sacrifice.   He was a Kiowa Helicopter Pilot and had a crash while returning back from a combat rescue mission.   He was 29.  He is gone but not forgotten.    God Bless all of our troops.

I went down on my knees and cried as I have not cried in years. I prayed to the "The Great One" to keep them safe and I smoked a pipe to the Four Winds. God Bless you all and Thank you Curt for bringing this up. Keep safe and come home.

Makes all my problems into small potatoes.

Travel to the END of the earth, and leave my wife and kids? Loneliness, financial hardship, fear of
never coming home, time lost FOREVER.!!!!!!!!!!!
And they can still smile.

I`m not tough enough. It is time for America to be much less kind, and much less gentle, to the rest of the world, and MUCH more kind, and gentle
to the ones who protect her!

Drive on and God Bless to all our troops! wish sometimes i could be there with them. i miss my days in the army. like the trad gang the friends i had while serving were a different breed. regardless of your political stance these folks do a job that few are willing to do.

A moving tribute to a deserving group of people.....my brother ends his morning radio show each and every morning with  a request for his listeners to shake the hand of every serviceman they see in uniform and simply say thank you.....

If you don't shed a tear after watching that then you have no compassion for what soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines do for there country.   :clapper:   God bless them, one and all.
On this memorial day remember them all. Those that have fallen and those who still carry on.

I sent this to everyone on my list, including my 82 year old mother. Hope she doesn't want to start borrowing my bows. This touched my heart as it should everyone. with tears in my eyes, I wish God Bless America. I have nothing smart to say. I am humble. Fred

Wow that is powerfull.
I have friends that there young Canadian soldier is over in Afganistan and he called on Friday to tell his mom that he was ok and not hurt bad.  they first thought it was a bad break in his ankle but it turned out to be a bad sprain.  Would not say how or when it happened but within two hours they released through the media that another Soldier had been killed and one injured and the injured soldier had already talked with his family.  Name of injured was never given but I am positive it was him and his mom says wow another injured the same day as my son sprained his ankle.  I think there is more to than she is being told.
Scares the crap out of me.

Thanks to our American brothers and sisters as well as the Canadian Soldiers that are willing to fight for my rights.

After serving 20+ years in the Navy, (1978-1998) my son took the Bull by the Horns and joined the Marines at the start of the Irac war.  He has made 2 tours during the last 3 years. I want to thank all who have served in our Armed Forces, and the one who supported us back on the home front. I remember and I'll never forget what you have done for us.........DesertDude

Thank You Curt....

I'm not a US citizen...yet, but that still made me weep. Everyone that fights to protect justice and freedom, deserves every bit of respect. I had the honour of meeting a couple of US servicemen at Chigago airport on New Years Day. All three of us were leaving our loved ones, but I had the reassurence that I was just going back to a job, where I was pretty sure I'd come home safe from each night, unlike those two guys. I shook their hands and left them, feeling very humbled to have met them.
