Over the past few monthes I have test driven each and can't decide on which one?? It's driving me nutts!!!! I really like the looks and feel of the Robertson. And Really fell in love with the grip of the Stalker Surge..Both shot about the same for me .. Maybe the Stalker I enjoyed shooting alittle more ?? But it was also 10# lighter.
Also the Stalker is about $500 less... But the Robertson will hold it's resale value much better for years to come...( The Bowaholic in me!!)
Which one would you pick?
It is very difficult make a decision between 2 excellent bows.I never owned a Stalker, but I would;I own several Robrtsons and they are been my to go bows for long time.I like them for elk hunting since they are light, accurate and fast.
A Robertson is real hard to beat. Love mine.
Love my Robertsons also. Bet if you ordered a bow from Robertson. Dick or Yote could make you what ever type grip you want. Probely would just need a detailed picture.
Different limbs designs.Robertson has a wide limb w/ lots of preset.Stalker has a narrow limb w/ a reenforced core(like a widow).I may faver the Robertson because of it's lighter mass weight but I like the Stalker's limb design.SOOOOO????????//I think both will TEST DRIVE?

40 yrds group with my Fatal Styk.

This is a 2000 Vision Falcon XP with Pierce Points.I owned 12 Robertson recurves amd most of them had a little different grip one from the other.

Not my best kill with a Robertson, but it was a small target.
This is another beautiful Pierce Points bow:the Gyrfalcon

This Bear was taken with my 15 year old to go bow. They are really tough bows, this one has survived many expeditions in the Rocky Mountain.
Overbo, What do you mean that the Stalker is like the BW limbs?? Widder limbs seem to be pretty wide to me... Can you please go into further detail?? I'm not following?
Don't listen to Felix! It'll cost you twice as much ,He'll have two of each!LOL.Only you and you alone can make that decision.( I think I would get both,SEE I 've been listening to Felix!)
Test drive one of South's bows. He offers a 2 week free try. I have never shot a Robertson, so I am a bit partial. I love my Stalker...it is the only recurve I own. I just killed 2 coyotes over the weekend and it performed perfectly :)
Robertson narrowed the last 25% of their limbs. So the width is not what is once was. I have never shot a Stalker....Robertson has my vote as well. If resale is important to you then a Robertson is probably an obvious choice. I just got mine from Carpenter and cant put it down. 62", 51# @ 28". Awesome bow now that I got it quieted down some and got used to the 3/16" beyond center cut.
I have not the gut to sel, my bows. But I immagine that the resale value is sometime determinated by how much people is talking about a certain bow in a certain period.More reviews you have on a bow more people is looking for it.
By the way,our good friend Steve is starting to have a heck of a collection.
Never shot a stalker, although they look like a very nice bow. I do own two Robertsons, a 1-piece and a take down, both are great shooters. this may or may not mean anything to you, but Dick Robertson has been making bows for a very long time. There aren't many around that have been in business as long as him, he must be doing something right. RW

Felix posted a pic of his beauty of bow, so to be politically correct I will do the same :) The problem is my amigo Felix has killed some critters on several different continents with his and other than a mangy coyote, My Stalker is an ungulate virgin ;)
Michael,I wish you a lot of pics with your bow and many different nice buck from your Illinois.
Good luck my friend, keep us posted.
Thank you, sir! I am hunting with Hope the St Judes bow this month, so we will see...I have a date with my Stalker Dec 1st!
I don't think you can say a Stalker won't hold its resale value. Who has seen one for sale? South is an a bowyer headed to the top, Robertson is there. You might be getting a Stalker at the pre-upscale pricing. Both great bows, great designs, great bowyers. You can't go wrong, but the grip on the Stalker is really good!
I have test driven both and can't decide. Robertson has one for sale right now that I really want . But Mackey has a BT for sale too.lol
I am a longbow man but I need to see and shoot one of those Stalkers. Flint
Love my Robertsons. Never shot a Stalker.
Ttt
I read alot about Stalker handles being comfy, those Robertsons have one sweet grip as well. Very shapely and rounded in the right spots. Just buy both and be done wittit!
Wait til you get the grip checkered on a Robertson, then tell me if you can put it down:)
Keith I already sleep with my Robertson, I dont even want to know what a checkered grip woudl do! All joking aside I need some grip work done this off season. Either stipple or checkered. Just a little something to keep my hand in place. I tend to getty sweaty palms when deer approach and it makes it a little saucy keeping my bow in place.
ttt
I'm sure you know by now but I was referring to the reinforced core of the Stalker(same as Widow).
I didn't realize either was specially reinforced?
Ttt
You still havent bought your Robertson? Man!
Stalker limbs are reinforced with Core Tuff to prevent torsional instability. Zipper now adds something similar to their limbs. Years ago Windstorm archery used E-Glass for the same reason.
Stalker.
Just an update. Ordered a Stalker with dark bacote footed with ebony. Dark eyed bacot veeners. Antler or moose tipps and antler of moose riser overlays. The limb wedges are going to be cocabola and coca limb overlay... with brass bezels and bolts... Accents strips are maple and ebony... 50@28 60 inches.. Due Oct 20th.... can't wait!!. But I have just switched to 3 under and might change it from split to three finger but don't know how much it would help? Feel like a kid waitin for Santa.... lol
I have a Robertson it is high performance bow for sure. There good people. But I know you won't go wrong either way.
I purchased a Fatal Styk this past spring. It is the mirror image of Cacciatore's bow pictured a page or two back. I am a 3-finger under shooter and while it doesn't matter much, I'd have it tillered for the way I shoot.
I expect you will be very happy with your Stalker. Check out the Hope and Faith Stalkers that South donated. Like all his bows, excellent workmanship, AND still the best grip ;)
You made a great choice ! I have a stalker stealth(Zebra handle/Grenadillo veneers) that I love and my new Stalker surge (Grey action wood handle with cocobolo accent stripe and grey stained curly maple veneers) should arrive tomorrow !

Dont forget to show us pics!!!
I`ve owned a few Robertsons and they are fine bows ....After about 3 days with the stalker "Hope" I can tell you it would be an easy choice for me. Stalker bows are impressive and I could buy a canoe with the left over cash..lol.
RC
you'll love your stalker (stealth 55@28) :archer2:
I don't know about a canoe??? I am paying as much for it as for a Blacktail after all the options... But for my birthday my girlfriend bought me some deer limb bolts with bear tracks and a limb bolt Selway leather quiver. Thinkin the theme for this bow is ebony, bacote, and lots of antler.. lol. I think its going to be to pretty to hunt with.??? Just pull it out for folks to see at bow shoots and carry around in church or weddings......
Just kiddin. She's going to be hunted with hard.. :o )
I just bought a custom Stalker longbow 58" 55 @ 28 and loving it. Shoots were you look, great grip, I own three ACS bows and thought I would never sell them but they will go to sell soon. Just sticking with my Stalker
