Title: shaft test kit. Fletch or No Fletch
Post by: Caleb the bow breaker on November 01, 2010, 12:40:00 PM
Hi all,

Was at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear a couple weeks ago and picked up an assortment of wooden shafts to make my own test kit.  I have them all ready to go and was about to start fletching them when I had a wild idea.  Would it be better to leave them unfletched and shoot them bareshaft in order to determine which spine is best for my set up???

Any advice from others.

C

If you bareshaft test with them, be prepared to break a few.  I MUCH prefer paper tuning with fletched shafts.

I am a bareshafter, and 'Fletcher's' method above, is just as good. The skill is not as intuitive as one might think so do some googling before you start. acsbows has a good tutorial as do others. Do a search here too.
