Title: Advice Needed....Broadhead Sharpener
Post by: Altiman94 on October 31, 2010, 09:47:00 PM
I'm using two blade magnus broadheads.  I don't think that they come nearly sharp enough out of the package and especially not after in and out of a foam quiver a few times.

With that said...What is the best sharpener on the market?  I'd be nice if it would double as a knife sharpener.  My pocket knife needs touching up also.

I just bought the KME and it takes a bit to get use to but it does work.

I would buy the knife system and use it for both braodheads and knives.

First try the Accusharp sharpener. Make sure you get the knife sharpener and not the garden tool sharpener. I have been using it on most of my knives and on my Ace 2 blade heads. Simply use light pressure and just stroke the blade through. I use it in reverse of the instructions. I hold the tool upside down in one hand and stroke the blade through the sharpener with the other hand. This makes it easier to see what I am doing and gives me better control. They are about 12 bucks compared to the price of a KME. Hope you like it too.

I got a KME. I also have several others. KME is the best there is from what I have seen. Gary

It's not fancy, but the RADA sharpener does a good job on just about everything.

2nd the Accusharp.

Depending on blade angle, you might have to file them to more acute angle to fit the sharpener.

Easy enough to check, Sharpie marker  ;)

I've used the 3 Rivers CC Sharper (for 2 blade broadheads) with some success.  It costs $19.99 and can also sharpen knives.  I ended up buying two of them, one for my pack in the field and the other for home sharpening.

I use a carbide sharpener (Redi Sharp) to get them started getting lighter with each stroke.  Than finish up on ceramic sticks.  Easiest way I've found and they get scary sharp! I love the steel Magnus uses!

Not much on hawking stuff; but, Ron@KME knows his business as do the boys at Alaska Bowhunting. Had long conversations w/Ron.
