Thinking about getting a shorter bow for shooting out of treestand. Particularly interested in the Bear Kodiak Magnum....those of you that have shot them, give me your thoughts.
I draw right at 29", 3-under. Any thoughts, both good and bad are appreciated. Don't want to buy something I'm not going to be able to use for my intentions.

Ive got a vintage Kodiak magnum its nice but I can't seem to get it to be quiet.
If you are going to get one don't get a new one as I have heard the new bear bows are rubbish with many people having the limbs break.
If you want a good short bow I hear cascades Golden Hawk Magnum is excellent although I have not shot one myself.
I've also got a 29" draw, and I love the K-mag. My first bow was a 45# vintage kodiak magnum and I liked it so much that when I decided to get a heavier bow I just bought a 55# version of the same series.
I've never had any problems with getting mine quiet. I have wool string silencers and I have wool wrapped around the tops and bottom of the string like bow hush.
I've got a 29" draw and the Cascade archery bows are great shooters for short bows! Try the Nighthawk mags, Whitetail hawk, or Golden Hawk Mags. I have two nighthawk mags and they draw and shoot very smooth out to 30" of draw.
Fred and the boys did their homework with the K Mag, very little finger pinch even with the longer draw folks, and the older ones are very quiet-never shot any newer ones.
I have a 29" DL and I love my KMs.My experience is with the vintage ones and I love them so much that I own severals.They are quiet,also with the bare string,forgiving, easy to tune,accurate and pretty fast.They are overlooked bow.If you buy a used one you'll be always able to resell it for the same value.
The 52" KM will work for 29" draw, but beware of that shorter 48" Super Mag. I have not heard the reports of the newer limbs breaking, but...
I have a Cascade Night Hawk 52" TD, and it is far superior to any Kodiak Magnum. On the used market, the Cascades can be found at reasonable prices since they are fairly priced when new.
If you have to get a KM, I would concur with those who said to get one from Grayling.

I have both Kmag and the Super Mag and I have a 29" draw. I didn't notice finger pinch on either. If you have large fingers, you may want to hunt up a 56" Grizzly. They aren't expensive, and they are only slightly longer. Bill
How do you guys get your k mags quiet with bare string? Ive have a 27.5" draw length and have tried Brace heights from 7 - 8.5" and its still loud, Ive tried a new string with no success. When I put silencers on it takes away some of the sound but I still wouldn't consider it quiet.
Ari, a lot of noise comes from the shooter's release. the bow can be tuned with heavy arrows and proper stringsilencers and my release is louder than my uncle's shooting the same bow/arrow.
I got my K-Mag from a friend here on the gang, and it's one of the baddest bows I have ever shot. It's an early 70's with the radius-ed shelf. I would definitely look for that if you can. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Insane power in a short bow.
I own a 1968 K Mag 55 lbs nice short bow a little hand shock but not too bad for a old bow but spits them out!
I've got a vintage 72 K Magnum 45# I believe it is, but need to get a string for it.
I have 64' and love it. I've hunted with it for about 6 years now. My draw is only 27, so no pinch issues. No shock either, but I am shooting 12g/lb.
Ari,maybe your arrow is too stiff or brace too low or nock point too low too.These cause the arrows hitting the window making some more noise.I have at least 15 KMags of different years and noise in never been a issue with anyone of them.
