This morning is the first morning if a few where the winds were not gusting to 50 or 60 mph and so I went out and sat where I missed a nice 8 I called in the other day. I can called this guy in and shot him at about 10 yds from a tree. There were several does and smaller bucks all around as well all morning. About 30 min after I watched him go down, I heard rattling and called in a bigger one to 35ish yds and no shot. In Michigan our season starts mid September now and goes through to Jan 1. This is a killer year so far because all the crops are down. I usually only see one or two bucks like this a season, but they seem to be out and are callable for sure right now. 1/2 mile drag to calm me down!! LOL Good morning! This guy had a hole in his abdomen from fighting, at first it looked like an arrow hole. Also, check out the ear. Either a shotgun slug went through or he is a little roughneck.
nicely done! what kind of bow is that?
Northern Mist Classic, I posted the pic just to show it off...lol. Not really.
Congrats. I called in and arrowed an eight pointer last Saturday morning. :archer2:
God bless you man!!!
The winds you spoke of took off half of my shingles, so until my house is weather proof, no hunting for me.
I`m gonna print a picture of your buck, and put it next to my back door so I will work fast!
Sincere congrats!!! Beautiful Michigan buck and a beauty of a Michigan bow!!!

Sweet!
Yesterday at 5:15pm, I grunted in and shot about the same class buck, minus brow tines.
I was on the ground hunting with natural cover around me, ASAT wool, about 20" down in a pit with live small pines and small oaks behind me and cut ones all around me.
My 62" 50lb ash Whisperstik Mojostik in hand.
It was a very cool scene. I was grunting blind every 15 minutes and I hit the grunt in a 5 grunt series and 30 seconds later the buck came over the ridge in a fast trot right at me, like on a string, never stopping once. He got 8 yards from me, facing me, then stopped for maybe 2 seconds, gave darting looks, never seeing me, then he back-trotted to the main trail I was watching, stopped broadside for a second and looked the other way, now at 14 yards.
To be honest, the whole thing happened so fast, literally no more than 15 seconds (more like 10 seconds) from the time I first saw him to the shot, that the shot was a blur. I drew, picked a spot and shot. I didn't even see the arrow, but heard it hit. When the deer ran about 20 feet after the shot, he hit an opening and I saw blood pouring out from the sweet spot.
I ended up centering the heart. Daily practice/muscle memory certainly paid off.
The Steelforce 125gr Phathead got a complete passthru and was stuck in the hillside behind the deer.
Even more beautiful, the deer ran about 80 yards and died right in the center of one of our two tracks, so no drag was involved! LOL
I typically look for 8pt's with out to ears width, but this hunt was too cool, too exciting and too textbook not to finish it with an arrow in flight.
I've had the luxury to hunt lots of great places and kill some really nice bucks in several out of state destinations. But the way this hunt turned out may rank it as my most satisfying.
Congrats! Nice buck for sure.
Nice job Mojo. Halloween through Nov 12 rocks
nice looking deer... Joe
  :clapper:
Great deer. Ears do that without being shot- they tear and heal like that.
Great deer! Congrats! I am up in MI visiting family, and not hunting. Weather here now is fabulous. Can't wait to get out in OH next weekend.
Pics of Mojosticks buck?
To be honest, I didn't even bother with a pic. The buck itself was a run of the mill northern Michigan 6pt.
The 10-15 seconds of that buck running in after grunting, getting almost in my lap and the "blur" of a perfect heart shot is frozen in my mind. That 15 seconds is in slow motion, upon replay in my mind.
No picture could ever recapture that.
That 15 seconds could take me 20 minutes to explain all that was going on in my mind, if that makes any sense.
From a tough year being a stay at home dad with newborn twins (now 13 months), a 3 year old and a 5 year old, to all the time spent working on cutting, hauling and stacking the pines for all blinds, to shooting trad bows every day for practice, even if for only 5 minutes, etc.
Let's just say that when I made the shot, I had the biggest smile of personal accomplishment and personal joy that I've had in a while.
Personal meaning, just about "me time, for me".
Not that I don't love my kids and family and get joy from them. Not at all. But sometimes in the blur of everyday life, what really makes YOU happy, gets lost.
Yesterdays hunt was worth about $5000 in therapy for me. LOL I hope everyone knows what I mean.
Very Nice!
Great Job--that is a fine buck!
Congrats!!! nice work bud!
Congratulations !!!!!!
Great deer Matt. I agree after our windy three or four days they really are on the move now that it is calmer.
Nice buck. Congrats.
