Today has been one of my best days bowhunting ever! I finally got my first trad kill, and my first coyote with a bow!!
It's even more sweet to have done it with my Bear Grizzly that was passed down to me from my favorite uncle who is like a second father to me.
With my own home made cedar arrows tipped with a 125gr. Magnus Snuffer. It blew through this dog like he wasn't even there....just absolutely flawless performance.
I've wanted to draw blood with it ever since he gave it to me, and I think I have finally done it's legacy justice. What an awesome first trad kill this is......and I couldn't be happier if it was a 10pt. buck. This honestly is a true trophy for me.
Complete pass through at 15 steps.

Awesome blood trail!

Finally Coyote, the arrow went through the left shoulder and exited behind the right shoulder

And Now the Hero Pics! I don't smile very often, but this really makes me smile!

Congrats
Very nice! Yotes can be tough to get with a bow. Congrats.
Congrats!!!
:clapper: Nice shot!
Nice Job!!!!! A Trophy Indeed! KYArcher :archer:
Congrats!
Great job!!
Every time I see a dead yote, I tell myself that there should be one more opportunity for a turkey.
A tough, tough critter to bag. Congratulations.
Awesome! Nice job on one of the most difficult animals there is to bag with a trad bow.
Good shootin!!
Several unborn fawns thank you!
Congrats, Mo has 2 less from bows kills from TG members in the last 3 weeks way to go. Ty
Thanks guys, that's exactly how I feel about them. I would whole lot rather have deer, turkey, rabbits, and quail than coyotes.
That makes 3 for me so far just since bowseason started, 1 with rifle, 1 with shotgun while turkey hunting, and now my first one with a bow.
I'm trying to do my part!
Thats awesome and not a big target....good shootin!
:archer:
Congrats on the Trophy,
I got my first trad Kill this year as well a Doe
I took here with a Bear Grizzly that was my first trad Bow bought 10 years ago but never hunted with till 3 years ago.
Congrats and way to go
Great shot. They are tough but rewarding
Yeah, yeah, now that's the way to do it.
CONGRATS! Way to go with the Grizzly!
YES YES YES verry nice great job :clapper: :clapper: :clapper: :archer2:
Nice  :notworthy:
Outstanding! Congrats. :clapper:
A Deer should be easy after that score! Congrats on a job well done!
Awesome bud! I got my first one ever with my longbow this year and like you said it is a better feeling than shooting a big buck!
My confidence level just went up about 5 points after this kill, I'm ready for the real deal and I just might get my chance soon I hope.
It's been a long and tough road, but I finally got a kill under my belt with a trad bow.
Thanks for all the kind words guys.
Outstanding! I hope you get to make something very cool with the pelt. Some coyote string silencers would HAVE to be good luck!
Congrats on the trophy, and your first trad kill as well.Is that coyote small or are you like 7'+ tall. It's either that or you shot a pekingese. That would look great on a quiver, Congrats again.
Butch L
Good shooting there, the most I got so far was a Pope and Young Squirrel.
To me, skewering a song dog is the most rewarding! Way to pick that spot. Now get that deer tag filled.
Nice!!!
congrats, and nice shootin, ruddy
1 down 11 million more to go. Nice shooting..
Good shooting"!!
"yote was my first trad. kill too, 3 yrs ago!! It only gets better!
Very nice! Great shot.
You picked perhaps the most difficult animal to take with a bow, and got your first kill.
Amazing!
A great first...a great trophy.....and a great memory!
one down about a million to go  Great job!
Congrats!
Congrats to you. I finally got my first one this year also

For those who have asked.....I just skinned it out this morning about an hour ago. I'm going to try my hand at tanning, something I have never done before.
Incidentally, that 125gr. Magnus Snuffer punched straight through the shoulder on the left side and exited low just behind the leg on the opposite side......it was a definite heart shot. Yeah I know what your thinking......sometimes I do get lucky. :goldtooth:
Congrats! I'd love to get within bow range of one of those. I used to see alot while living out west, but since the move back to Ohio, I haven't seen as many.
What do you have on the limbs of your bow? I'm looking for something like that for my Grizzly too to protect the limbs while hunting.

I call them limb socks, I made them out of the sleeves from an old long sleeve camo Tshirt. I cut the sleeves off to the correct length and my mother did the sewing. They work great for covering up the shine and also protect from scratches, bumps, and dings.....they are also 100% cotton and machine washable.
I couldn't find anything like that on the market and didn't like the idea of putting any of those stick on kind on my bow limbs, so I made my own.

Nice job.
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go through all my old hunting clothes to see what I have.
Nice shot, keep wacking those song dogs.
.
Nice! Congrats to ya.
A great trophy! You should skin it and have it tanned--hang it on the wall. If you can't do that get a taxidermist to clean the skull for you--they look really cool and are a fun trophy to put in the house
N-I-C-E!
Way to go brother...Congratulations. :clapper:
that is amazing. thanks for sharing..
Joe
congrats on an awesome trophy!
Now that is a trophy worth smiling about. I certainly am. Congrats. :bigsmyl:

That's exactly what I am going to do. I skinned the critter this morning and the hide is in the freezer. I'm going to haul the carcass out to the pasture and let nature do it's dirty work, then when it's somewhat cleaned up a bit I'm going to finish the skull. I've got 2 others out there that I'm going to do the same with.
Just curious. How far did he run after the hit? I know there tough critters.
Less than 20 yards, from hit to dead was less than 3 seconds I would guess?
Those Snuffers are truly bad to the bone IMO.
Of course, an animal can't survive long with a hole through the heart the size of a half dollar, not bragging because I just got lucky on the heart shot, but I did put it exactly where I wanted to and that was straight through the shoulder....the heart hit was just a bonus.
Well done! Did you call him in, or was it a chance encounter?
Awesome congratulations.
:thumbs  Congrats!!!
That's the way to do it! The second toughest animal to bag with a stick bow and it was your first!!

No, I didn't call him in....at least not this one. I do call them in all winter and hunt for them intentionally, but this one was traveling through the area like they do routinely and caught a opposum right down the hill from me. He ate what he could then grabbed a mouthfull and headed up the hill right straight to me to bury it. When he stopped at about 15 steps and started to dig a hole I was already at full draw. Needless to say he didn't get the job done, but I sure did. I know it was a opposum that he was carrying because when I went to investigate what he had dropped, it still had the opposum's tail attached to it. I had no idea they would eat those? Learn something new after 26+ years of bowhunting.....nature never ceases to amaze me.
Bjorn- I'm assuming you are referring to the turkey as the toughest game animal to bag with a stick bow? That would be my #1 toughest on the list, because it seems like even if they are looking straight away they can still see you move.
Great job. Love the thumbs up in the picture. It says it all.
Nice shot.Great trophy
Good shootin...Well done...
Congrats!
Congratulations. You sure have your first throphy!!
Good shootin. I would love to get a coyote with trad equipment.
woah what a great way to start!
awesome!!!congrats!a song dog was my first trad kill too.
I just got back from my hunting property up north Missouri today, and I got a shot at yet Another coyote yesterday morning! This time I shaved hair off it's back.......that makes 4 shots at coyotes this bow season, with one kill and all misses were high. I think I must be having a bit of a hard time judging yardage on them because of their size and they seem to look further away than they really are?
It's kind of unbelievable that I went 26+ years of bow hunting without getting a shot oppurtunity at a coyote and now I get 4 shot opps in one season on 2 completely different tracts of property? :dunno:
Man, I must be a coyote magnet this year!
