Title: dacron differences?
Post by: Andy Cooper on October 27, 2010, 01:12:00 PM
What are the pros and cons regarding the different kinds of dacron presently available for bow strings?

Andy,

B50 and B500 (brownell and bcy respectively) are basically homogenous.

I've not tried the new B55 from BCY.  Seems like some like it better while others aren't noticing any difference.

I didn't answer your question, but maybe my little tidbit will get someone else to chime in.

Sent an email to Chad at Champion Custom Bowstrings. Here's his answer:

"There's very little difference between Brownell's B-50 and BCY's B-500--just different manufacturers.  BCY's B-55 seems to be an improvement--a little stronger, a little less stretch/creep vs. B-500.  It's not in the same class as FF type materials, but I think it's going to work out to replace B-500."
