I'm getting the urge to hunt with my 80# longbow for my buck. I used my Brack for my doe but I feel bad letting the old stand-by just hang there. Am I the only one with this problem?
naw, I shot a buck with my old herters recurve, then a turkey, then grabbed my longbow and got a bonus whitetail, its all good and all fun, I seem to not have alot of problems changing and they shoot the same arrow well.
I swap from a new longbow i bought to my old standby every now and then. They were built by the same bowyer and shoot the same so I find no problem with it.
God Bless,
Nathan
If you can shoot'um accurately, use'um. I want every bow I own to have blood on it, and I don't mean my own.
Never hunt with the same bow twice in a row. I have too many so I have to spread the love around.
I just switched. No problem though when you pick the other up and it shoots the same as when you put it down. You don't want any of them getting lonely. Plus that way if you miss you will have a good excuse.
Same Here: Bows were made to be shot, I sometimes shoot two or three during the same day. I do admit that every now and then one will grow on you and It's hard to put it down, kinda like a good woman or good wisky, you just don't want to be without them. RW
Na, I promised my recurve I would take her with me every time I went out.
I did it last year just to attempt to change my luck. I hadn't had a shot opportunity and it was after Thanksgiving. It worked! I killed a pretty nice buck. Guess I should name my Kanati "Little Lucky"!
Have fun...I alternate every other day. Monday I used my Kempf Longbow, today was the Groves recurve and tomorrow in the rain, my Kempf Stealth. I just love shooting all 3 bows and....before the season ends, I'm thinking about breaking out my old original Bill Stewart Multi Camo T/D recurve...just for old times sake.
I figure, I only get to have one woman, so that means I can have multiple bows. Shooting the BW Compact Hunter right now but can't wait to get back to the longbow, don't know which longbow as I have accidently bought two more. :dunno: Honest, baby, they just followed me home, I don't know where they came from.
I've switched bows during the same day before. Several times. For different reasons.
Will switch from a longbow to a selfbow, during the day, just depends which one I am feeling comfortable with, or have a desire to accomplish something with.........
August 2010 - Bear take-down for antelope hunting in Colorado
September 2010 - Cari-bow take-down longbow for moose hunting in Alaska
October/November 2010 - Robertson take-down for whitetail hunting in Ohio
December 2010/January 2011 - TBD
I suppose that if you want to split hairs at 30 yards it might make a difference but I switch bows regularly during the season without any noticeable effect.
Ok, I need an excuse to get more bows, but wouldn't a different bow throw the arrow different ? Do you guys practice with each bow daily ? I never shoot a different bow because I was afraid it would screw up my brain on accuracy, is this fear not correct ? If not I will be buying more bows !
Dan
I am sticking with the sme bow for the whole season. I want my first Trad deer to be with that special bow. After that, all bets are off.
I have been good so far the year, been hunting with a Chad Holm recurve. Only cheated once so far when I took my old Mahaska longbow for a sit one afternoon.
Last year I had been shooting several different bows during the summer before season. They all shot well for me. When the deer season rolled around, I decided to hunt with all 4 of them. I was able to fill my 4 tags, each with a different bow. Shoot what you feel like shooting!

I REALLY like the way you think
I currently own several recurves, and only two longbows. I shoot them all on a regular basis, with the exact same arrow. I switch whenever the mood strikes me.........or more than likely......when one speaks to me from their home on the bowrack. The weights are close enough that I don't have a different trajectory when I shoot them at short distancess, so that isn't an issue.

Dan d, I can shoot any of my 8 different bows with broadheads and they all shoot the same with no changes in my look. I was just wondering if anybody else does this stuff and now I know, we're all crazy!
When the wind chill starts dropping into the teens I switch to a bow with a lower draw weight. After a couple of hours sitting perfectly still, all bundled up I shoot the lighter bow better. I only take short shots so trajectory isn't a factor.
