I bought this at a thrift type shop for $5. a while ago and it had a slight twist in the limb.I fixed it and shot it today and was amazed at how well it shoots. Its 62" 45@28. I was wondering what the correct brace height would be? And with my 30-31" draw length would that be to much for the bow?
Good find! Those old Colts are shooters. Start looking for a brace around 7 3/4" and go up from there. I'll check the brace on mine when I get a minute, and get back to you.
Just checked, mine's 47#@28", 62", and is braced at 7 3/4" exactly.
Thanks Eugene
Is it measured like my longbow or different this has a wide riser and the shelf sits back beyond the handle.I am not familiar with recurves and setting them up at all.
I have one in the garage that I, my dad, and my brothers shot while I was growing up. 40#@28" It was a go-to bow. It developed some longitudinal cracks in it after many years of service, so it's a wall hanger now. I wonder how many thousands of arrows we put through that bow? :archer2:
Brace height is measured from the deepest part of the grip to the string.
Does a recurve need a special string I have flemish twist I make for my longbows?
No, except that it should be B-50 of course, and have a slightly larger loop so that it will slide down the limb when you unstring it.
Thanks Eugene.
