Title: Rod Sharpener
Post by: Boswell on October 26, 2010, 12:23:00 AM
I am looking to get a good rod to sharpen my knife with when skinning and butchering my deer. Something that is small enough that I can throw in my pack or possibles bag and all ways have just incase.
Thanks

I made my own little one. I bought a sharpening-rod blank without a handle, shortened it to my desired length (7 inch + handle), took a piece of wood and fitted it on as a handle and made a little push over sheath out of leather.
Now its small but long enough for me, wearable on the belt and cost a total of 20ยง and 1,5 hours work.

Check out the 3-Rivers Archery catalog on line.I have one I got from them that works well. Short, Light weight and almost flat. They have two sizes. Sorry but I forgot the name.
