Title: amacker aluminum climber
Post by: erierik on October 25, 2010, 09:44:00 PM
Anyone use these climbers?I am looking at climbers and like the look of these. They have the v-bar instead of cable around the tree and wondered which would be more stable.I am a bigger guy so want one with a 350 rating or better.I also like the bigger platform and that its adjustable.thanks Ricky

Sorry, no experience with the Amacker but I do own its decedent API that uses a roller chain instead of the "V" bar. I really like the API. Very comfortable and sturdy. Not sure of its actual weight rating though.

Avoid the V-bar stands.  They have a tendency to slide down trees, especially when the bark is wet.  Stick with a chain or cable stand.  They are much more safe.

Had an original steel Ammacker that I used often. Lost the bottom in Ol Shakey enough times & top near a few. Scary. Now I have 2 v-notch aluminums that are much better. Haven't tried the new & improved chains.

Ol Man in the big boy model are hard to beat if you don't mind the rail around you.
