Freshened up a scrape this morning after a hunt.Got back in my stand at 4pm.Around 5pm.
a buck come down to check out the scrape, there he was sniffing my scent-wick.Standing broadside
around 14yrds and what do I do,get the wiggly-jiggly and don,t do anything right and miss him
completly.Did not pick a spot....did not anchor...did not follow through...didn,t do this
right....didn,t do that right....Now I can SULK..............
You didn't fail you know what you did wrong
you won't make that mistake again :archer2:
stick it in his chest next time! you'll prob get another crack if he's been workin his scrapes, and im sure there about to start hittin them harder in the next coming weeks.
Every shot taken at an animal is a learning experience. Just relax and think about the next shot you're going to take. You'll have more shots in the future. Just tell yourself you'll do it perfect next time.
Stick with it!
Brett
Happens to the best of us! Keep at it! You gotta love it. Best of luck to you next time.
stay with it bro i watched you shoot to many times and KNOW you will center punch his pumper next time! big buck? body size? come on now spill it, it was a B&C wasn't it?????
No wasn,t a bigboy just a descent spikehorn.Not a
trophy hunter,just want freezer meat.
You did not fail, you learned something, learning is a good thing.
Next time you will do it all perfect.
You went to school, the bell rang ,you went home. The school didn't close, you'll go to class again and next time you'll pass the test..... :dunno:

You never fail if you learn from your mistakes.
Failed? When was the last time you felt so alive as when that buck was in that scrape? In our otherwise insipid lives how often do we get to experience that kind of excitment? You only fail when you don't go back at it, and we know that ain't gonna happen. Next time you'll be sharing the Hero pics and details of the hunt.
Join the club, learn from this and just hang in there.
Lots of steps along the way. Embrace a miss for what it is.....a learning experience.
Hang tough.
Heck, I'm the president of the missing deer club! Laugh it off, keep at it.
My dad always told me it was alright to make misteaks as long as I learned from them.
you'll get another change.

You go from 3 deer last year to a miss :smileystooges:
Dont beat yourself up too much Tim, It happens to teh best. My buddy Terry missed a close shot the other morning and he is a great shot!
Like Ken said you can shoot, I've seen you do it. Keep at it, slow down the next shot and take home the bacon. Dont worry, next time you will be pokin fun at me for missing, it happens to everyone from time to time.
To go get "wiggly-jiggly" is why we go hunting.
Actually getting an animal is secondary...right?
I know it`s easy to say, and hard to swallow.
Been there, done that, and hope to be there again.
Sulk away, and if you need advice on sulking, just ask. :D
Don't fret the small stuff!
If the miss really bothered you that much you probably wouldn't have made the post in reference to it.
I think the real reason you posted this is because you were proud to have had the experience and wanted to share it.
The fact that you missed, believe it or not will probably have you remembering this encounter long after you forget some of the ones where you didn't miss.
I have buddies remind me of deer I shot on different hunts all the time that I've forgotten about. But I remember all the ones I've missed, because each miss was a learning experience. And each one is ingrained in my memory.
Now go get him!

Wait a minute I thought I was the president. :D
Hang in there, you'll be glad you did. :archer2:
At least you shot! I had a great buck at 7yds. last night and when he offered me the shot I decided I suddenly needed to stand up to shoot and he heard something and bounded away! I can shoot just as good from a setting position as standing but my brian went into panic mode and I blew it. I've been doing this for more than 45 yrs.! It's a great sport and it's amazing that we get this close to such wild and wonderful creatures. That's hunting!
Good learning experience, go get 'em now!!
Bornagain got it right. The question is...what is the lesson, here?
