Title: carbon newbie questions
Post by: Andy Cooper on October 23, 2010, 08:26:00 PM
I'm going to try out some Arrow Dynamics shafts. Any advice re: tools, inserts, adhesives, saw for a carbon virgin?   :saywhat:

Many ways to put carbons together.  I cut mine with a diamond bit in my Dremel, using painters tape around the shaft to give me a clean line and spinning in my hand while I cut, clean the inside of the shaft with rubbing alcohol and use super glue to glue the standard inserts, the ones that come with the shafts. I use the gel super glue to give me a little extra time, but put em in and spin fast so the glue does not grab before you get the insert all the way in.  I do not like the nocks that come with the shafts, so I buy Uni bushings and G nocks from Three Rivers, again cleaning the shaft and using super glue.  I use arrow wraps and super glue barred shield feathers.  Only tool I use, other than the dremel, is a fletching jig, Bitzenberg.

Thanks, Camolaw. I have both a Dremel and a Bitz. I've made my own wood arrows for years, but am wanting to do some playing with carbon and EFOC 'loads' for my bows. I appreciate your response!
