Some folks on a local board are reporting that Owen had a heart attack and is awaiting a triple bypass. He's a big figure in our trad world and spent a lot of time with me to get me started. For you guys that may know him, figured I'd spread the word.
Best,
Julian
I wish him all the best and a speedy and full recovery. Prayers out as well.
My prayers go out to the Jeffery Ohana (family) This comes at a time when I just discovered who the man is as I just recently aquired a 52" Mity Mag classic and did a little research on Jeffery bows.
His Mity-Mag Classic spurred a resurgence in my interest in archery. I am sending out my hopes that he does well, and has many more happy years ahead of him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him. I heard a story about an archer that brought his Jeffrey's recurve back to Jeffrey's Archery, and told Owen that his bow shot to the right. Owen looked at it, grabbed some arrows from the corner and commenced to shooting the bull's eye out repetitiously. He gave to bow back and said, "There. I fixed it."
that sounds just like Owen!
I'll go by and find out tomorrow.

I hope this is not the case. If it is I am praying for him and his family. I have been in his shop many times when I lived in Bamberg S.C.
Short trip up 321 and we would go outside and shoot his bales and he always had a cure for your shooting.
I considered Owen one of my best friends back in the 80s when I lived in Columbia, SC. I truly hope evrything works out. He's one of, if not THE, last of the pioneers who really knows how these things work. He told me once- he made the bows for a bunch of "custom bowyers"- " These guys draw a picture and send it to you and expect you to make it work! If they had to build bows with the materials and glues we had to use, there wouldn't be five "bowyers" in whole damned country." I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Grant
Thank you for the news Julian. I stopped by the store last month and saw Owen and Tom briefly.
As with others Owen was instrumental in getting me started in traditional.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Prayers for Owen & family.
He and Tom were at a youth hunt sponsored by the DNR a couple of weeks ago. He was in good humor and seemed to be doing well. Will stop by the shop tomorrow... meanwhile, prayers for Owen - he holds a special place in lots o' hearts, mine included.
I sure hope that's not true. My prayers go to Mr. Jeffery.
Will keep him in my daily prayers.

Owen had quadruple bypass surgery today. He is doing fine. Today is also his 86th birthday.
Few know just how much the man has contributed to this sport.
Owen was one of my mentors as a young man and you couldn't ask for better. He's in my prayers.
