Norm called me the other day to let me know my turn in line for my blacktail is just a few weeks away. I was patient but now knowing I am that much closer I am anxious to say the least. You other blacktail fans know how this is. Help keep me patience over this last part of the wait. :help:
-
Man is it ever hard to know that a bow is comming and yet we still have to wait!!
-
I own two Blacktail TDs and I can say is, "good things come to those who wait". You won't be disappointed.
-
I've got a new to me on the way Danny Rowans Ebony,Cocobolo with Yew limbs .Its in the mail now and driving me nuts!
-
I bet Steve,Danny ship for FAR AWAY.But he is a master in handling the bows he sold,he get quite a few experience..LOL
-
Great bows. You will love it.

Waiting on a Blacktail (or any other great custom) sure tempts one to violate Grandma's admonition not to wish one's life away!
I've happy for you and even happier that those of us on THE list will move one notch north!
-
How long you been on the list, I put an order in last December for my second Blacktail, just wondering if he is still in the 13 to 15 month time frame. Getting a Bow from Norm is kinda like waiting on Christmas, you know it's gonna come, but there is nothing you can do to hurry it up. It,s worth the wait. R.W.

That call is torture, extreme torture! :biglaugh: But now there is light at the end of the tunnel. The bad part is after you have decided on the woods you'll wonder what it will really look like when you get it in your hands....how am I doing Helo? haha
Take a deep breath. You are about to receive one of the finest (I believe THE finest) recurves being built anywhere in the world today! You lived just fine without it for how many years? A few more weeks will be just fine.....sure glad it's not me! haha I've got 10 months to go.
I look forward to seeing it Helo! Congrats.
-
You might get it before Arizona! That's even more torture. Post pics when you get it :)
-
I got the same call last Thursday as well. Tic, Tic, Tic ---- I can't wait.
R.W. - I got on the list last October so we're looking at 12 to 13 months. Just like Norm told me.

hahahahahaha!
So Helo, what woods did you pick? Or is it a surprise?
-
I put my order in May! Almost half way there!
-
Helo, I don't even know you, and even I CAN"T WAIT for you to get it!!!!!!!
-
I had to wait 18 months for my Snakebit, for sure it was worth the waiting.
-
Dave, it always amazes me how much better wood grains look when the window is taken out on the right side (for a lefty)of the riser! Great looking bow.
18 months Cacciatore....say it ain't so! I just checked my old e-mails. I ordered my Snakebit in mid-May. I'm counting on the bow being finished sometime in July (or before?????).
-
I'm on the list to, trying not to think about it...but it's not working so well!!
-
Thanks guys for all the help those pictures on the rug are great.I was wondering if you saw this snag. My wood choices are the following cocobolo riser footed with myrtle and yew limb veneers. Is it true that myrtle is a native wood found only in the northwest ? I just hit my 13 &3/4 month mark on my wait. So what is a few more weeks. Keep up the therapy it helps. Hey steadman I may have to make a trip to spanish to show you in person. :help:
-
Let me know, I'll put the moose steaks on!
-
I had to wait 8 months for a bow ,it drove me nuts,Sure glad my BT's in the mail as we speak.I would never make 18 months.Felix you got the patience of a Vulture!LOL Thats what makes you a good hunter my friend!
-
Roy,Steve;I am in a age that I like the time pass really SLOW,when you are waiting you can drooling and always been able to change the specs, when it will arrive it is another bow on your stable.
-
Helo: I have been told that the Myrtle only grows in North America in the Northwest States but it also grows in the "Holy Land" which I take to mean Isrial or surronding natiions. Carritore: I know what you mean about slow, at 60 the hunting seasons get here way to quick. I have changed my mind twice already about the bow,
and I still have about 5 months to go. It will be here before you know it. R.W.

At least I have a couple of deliveries from other bowyers to tide me over -- Super Wildcat next month and Bear TD limbs in December -- both from Rose Oak. Then in April - I hope a couple weeks before turkey season opens -- a Schafer Silvertip.
Yep, time sure flies these days -- I can't believe only 4 more weeks of pre-gun season bowhunting remaining here. Just came in this morning -- didn't see any deer until walking out. Three does walked right by a nice cedar I've been eyeing for a couple years about 10 yards into a pasture from a very nice woodlot -- the stand goes up at lunchtime today!

That's right myrtlewood is native to Oregon. Norm lives on the coast here and is able to find some rare and beautiful stuff that others don't.
Yew grows here also. So Helo outside of the cocobola you've got a real Oregon bow being built by an Oregon bowyer! Cool.
-
Since we're sharing mine will be Cocobolo footed with Ebony on the riser w/Cocobolo and Wenge on the limbs. I've seen other pics online of this combination and I hope mine comes out half as nice!!!!
Tic, Tic, Tic....patience is a virtue (so I've been telling myself!)

Here's a little info. on Oregon myrtlewood for you Helo. Becoming more and more rare. It's such a slow grower that some of the trees are mighty old.

Very interesting link on the myrtle wood. This is why wood bows have such a attraction to those in trad they have history and lots of craftmanship built into them. As stated in the link I am sure mine will be passed down later in my life. Hey snag thanks for that link. Knowing that will add more history to my bow. One less week to go.
