Im thinking about getting a new long bow and want to know which bow you guys and gals think is better

I think you should get one of each, then report back to us!
The Black Morrison.
Yep!

Depends on your wallet and on your liking.
Good bows either.
I believe Black Widow does have a try before you buy program so that may help. Also Morrison has a couple of more options than BW. You could go with the One piece Dakota, or the three piece Cheyenne and Shawnee but don't forget you can also use Bob's ILF longbow configuration. So it's not such a simple comparison.
As a Black Widow and Morrison owner I love them both. So I don't think you would be making a bad choice either way. Honestly really depends on what exactly you want.
Flip a coin. Either way, you win.
My idea was actually the best one. Buy one of each, then report back. Of course, implicit in that was that you'd need to send the bows to several of us for corroboration of your findings!

I had this problem a couple of years ago. I bought two of each!

Problem solved...but ya didn't answer the question in the OP!! :D Which is best...the Black Morrison?!
Both are top bows-you have to try them for several days each-it is simply going to be a personal preference thing.
So many bows, so little time...I need to quit practicing veterinary medicine and become a full time bow tester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :archer2:
its all about different strokes for different folks
i dont see how you could go wrong with either

I have owned some recurves of both, both companys make super nice high quality recurve bows. I prefered the forward handle riser and high brace height of the BW recurves..you may not.
Those are my two favorite bows, so get at least one of each would be the correct answer.
Had one PL take down...I passed it on. I still have and am totally satsified with my Shawnee/Dakota 3 piece and my Mini 13 riser with 'C' Carbon Maple cored Lb limbs.
I have owned several widows over the years, the PL was the only one I regret letting go of. As stated above, you really need to try them out as neither are "economy bows".
I do think the Morrisons are considerably faster and come with the option of ordering several more "Custom Features".
I also know that in my case, I shoot them alot better.
BTW the one piece Dakota's I have owned would also be my choice if I was looking for another 1 piece.
Gene
In my opinion, BW makes better recurves than longbows. You can't go wrong with Bob's longbows either the Shawnee or Dakota. Performance wise I'd put my money on the Morrison.
Ive owned a couple of each (longbows)...the Morrisons where significantly faster.
I have owned both as well. In my experience, you are correct that the Morrison is faster. With my Morrison recurve though, that came with addtional hand shock. My BW is smoother and I prefer the feel of it. It's tough to beat a Morrison looks-wise..he does great snake skins too. Bottom line for me though...Black Widow.
I have shot a LAG,PL,and now I shoot a PLGA Widow and really like that longbow.I have also shot the morrison cougar.and that longbow was really fast.but once you get widow bit it is hard to shoot another bow for some reason.but overall feel I would have to go with the widow longbows.
Good luck there both top notch bows.
Shoot them both and decide on how they shoot for you....... neither points well for me so I stick with predators/palmers/rose oaks. My hand likes the feel of their grips, so I shoot them better.
In my mind the Widow was faster, smoother, prettier, and faster than I could think. BUT when it came to killing my three piece Shawnee longbow way our preformed the three piece widow longbow, because the only place I could shoot it was in my mind.
Bowmania
I didnt see that he was asking about LONGBOWs ...I have only owned Recurves made by BW or Morrison..So my opinion posted above is only for the recurves..
thanks all i guess i will have to try to pick them both up
if you can, try each one before you buy. but as stated above, you cant go wrong with either one
I have both and am keeping both :D .
I have owned both. Both are very quick, but the Morrison was hands down quieter. I went with the ILF longbow so I could go to recurve limbs if I want. It just gave me more options.
True story. I was sitting talking with Ken Beck at one of the shows when Mr. Morrison waslked up. Ken said, "Jim, have you met the second best bowmaker there is? :notworthy: :notworthy:
buy them both why worry
I've got both and plan on keeping both. I wish the PLGA was a take-down though.
I got one of each in 2010 the widow is for sale.
