Hi im fairly new to tg and wanted to know your guys thoughts and opinions about rattling and the time to start thanks
Now!
thats a good awnser i really dont know this is the first year im going to try
There is a guy in my bow club who rattled in and shot a 8 point sept 26th. He used a small set of antlers and made it sound like 2 yung bucks goofin off.
Yes, I agree: NOW!
I've got a small set of antlers that are attached by a 12" string. I lower them down on the ground by my pull rope from my stand. I just give them a jiggle and let them bounce around in the leaves and bang againt the tree to give some noise other that the antlers to add realism.
Plus, as good as deer are at pin-pointing sound, it is more natural at ground level rather that 20' up in the air.
Just my .02.
thanks guys now i got another question should i use two different antlers or two off the same deer someone tould me they cant tell if the sound is coming from the same rack
Don't know..never had to have to rattle to see deer. :dunno:

They can't tell the difference. I've successfully used a set made from one deer many, many times.
Now! Rattle with whatever horns you have avalable. It is great excitement when you have angry bucks hunting you, especially if you are on the ground.
thanks for clearing that up for me
Think of it this way. When two bucks are sparring, the noise is coming from two different sets of antlers tangling, not from the same set. With that in mind, if anything, it might be better to use two different antlers. My opinion, though, is it doesn't matter.
Tie a couple of sets together on a long string and let them hang free and just jerk the heck out of the string.JMO
