after alot of searching and trying to decide what to get i finally picked one out.i decided to go with a longbow and got a Bear Montana.
really love this bow.got it from Keefers on this site.great guy to deal with, when we left his house,it felt like we had known him for years.iv been shooting every day since, and am starting to get the feel of it.still got a long ways to go but enjoying every minute of it.iv hunted with compounds most of my life but had decided to switch over.cant believe how satisfying a feeling it is to shoot traditional, and for me personally, especially to be using a longbow.
Congratulations! Glad you are enjoying it.
Good on ya! All the best with your new adventure!
Welcom abord. The Montana is a choice of many guys.
Good choice. Enjoy it and be warned, you will become addicted.
Welcome to the family.
You've taken the 1st step on what can be a very rewarding journey, it's one shared by most if not all members of this site.

Outstanding - Montana is a great choice! Shoot straight!
It is relieving to take a stick to the woods for some reason.
God Bless,
Nathan
About 25 years ago, I was shooting a compound and thumbed through an archery catalog and there was page after page of releases, bow sights, rests and peeps. Later, I saw a picture of Martin trad bows in Bowhunter magazine and I couldn't sell the compound fast enough. I got a martin recurve and never looked back. Pup
That is an excellent first choice (or second, or third, or thirteenth...). Hope you enjoy it and make much meat with it or whatever follows! And a good time was had by all.
A Bear Montana was my first bow as well. Its lightweight, accurate, and plenty fast. Enjoy it.
Ross,
It was my pleasure trying to squeeze so much in a few hrs. of time ...Guys Ross brought a friend over by the name of Zack/Zach. But anyway this young man had never hunted or shot a bow in his life but talk about good form and follow through this dude had it....Ross did pretty good as well for someone who never shot the longbow but with the correct equipment they both will soon be "Brothers of the bow"...Oh and by the way "Happy Birthday Ross" today is his birthday and yesterday was my 47th...That's kind of Cool... :clapper:
thats great news.if you keep shooting it i am sure it won't be your last trad bow.and Keefer,i think you just converted two more guys.good on you brother.lots of luck guys, steve
Welcome, and Congrats on the bow! Happy B-day to Ross and Keefer too!
Enjoy!
thanks everybody.were really enjoying it.yes,Keefer helped us alot.its great being able to read and learn on this site but its even better when you can have things explained and shown to you first hand.plus lending us a video to watch on shooting traditional.sure helps in the learning curve.thanks again,Ross
 :clapper:
By the way,Zack,my buddy that is getting into
traditional with me is also a new member on here.
He's just kinda quite, lol. He goes by "Fred Hood".
Welcome to the board. The Montana is a good choice for a first bow.
I too just purchased a Montana l/b as my first l/b . The bow is awesome I could not be happier.
hey Richie, what size arrows are you shooting through yours?mines 50#.but just trying to figure out the right spine weight arrows for the bow.the arrows are 28" long.any info would be appreciated,Ross
I'm using 35/55 gt's with 125 gr. tip. I already had the arrows and so far they are working great. Since you are shooting a 50# bow they would be perfect for you.
Congratulations. I hope it provides you with countless hours or enjoyment.
I'm happy for you man!
Montana is a good bow and I know you'll enjoy the simpler, but far more challenging way.
:thumbsup Enjoy it! Some of the best things in life are the simple things-----like stick and string.
