Hi guys,
I just wanted to share a few pictures from my hunt this past weekend. I went to visit a childhood friend who is living on about 1000 acres in S. Texas. We mainly went to dove hunt, but I brought my bow along too of course.
It's pretty rugged land down there and not many people so it's really quiet at nights. The brush is impenetrable in a lot of places as you can see below. There is a good amount of oil and gas activity down there, and during the night you could see the flames from the oil rigs and at times they make this eerie droning sound.
We were able to lure in some hogs and I got one with my Kanati longbow. The STOS broadhead sailed right through like the little guy wasn't even there, and stuck about 4 inches into the dirt. He did me a favor and ran about 60 feet down the road before he fell. I sure didn't feel like dragging him out of the thick stuff.
I had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

I'm not sure if you can see, but there is an albino raccoon on there...he's a pool shark. fyi
I'll bet the weather was warm down there. Too warm up here so far!! Nice mounts in that pool room!

Thanks guys!
It is pretty awesome. Pool table, poker table, full bar, awesome bucks for inspiration, and even it's own bathroom.
Your friend has a very nice place. South Texas is rugged country. The foliage that grows there will stick, stab, spike and claw you if you inadvertently brush up against it. It's a game rich environment for pigs, javelina, deer, quail and doves. This is why I like to hunt south Texas.
Good Job on the piggy! I really like the mounts also.
God Bless,
Nathan
I guess you were down past Three Rivers or down 37. That brush country is something to see.
Neat camp. I was told years ago that it was not a south Texas deer camp unless you had a pool table.
Good job on the pig.

Good eye Huntschool! I was just off 37 and into McMullen County.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. That place looks awesome!
What a lineup of mounts.
Any more photos of the Deer..especially the one in the center?
Congrats
Hunted down there quite a bit. Awesome animals and awesome country....a real privilege if you can hunt a big place. Ain't nothin like South Texas.
South Texas just has a certain mystic about it. Thanks for sharing.

Here you go. There is something a little different about that one.

My brother has 3000 acres south of Fowlerton, i spent a few days there early this month, truly a magical place is S. Texas.
If I could talk my wife into moving, I would already be there.
Going back mid/late Nov. for a hunt.
Nice looking place. good overview of your trip thanks.

the one in the center is a muley an the rest are whitetails right?
Bull:
McMullin and Dimmit Co's..... WOW deer....
Kinda hard to mistake the black brush, white brush etc in your pics. A bit more thorney there than down in the lower valley off 281 around Encino..... Actually east of the 281 road surface at Encino.... Know what I mean? There is a gate with a lot of locks and a guard.
I would sure like a shot at one of those "triangle counties" high rack bucks from your country.
Yep Pon,
All the others were whitetail except for the one mule deer.
Nice
Thanks for sharing!
