Well I just talked to Ray, he said no more killing was done. So the hog I killed and the big doe that Larry Surtees took was all. Hopefully Ray will put some pics up when he gets time.
Congrats to Mike and Larry :clapper:
Sounds like a fun time.
I gotta try that!
Got back this afternoon. What a great experience.
Cant say enough about Ray, Mike and the group of guys that where there this weekend.
Saw plenty of game and last night a large group of pigs. Which I had in view on and off for about a hour. Just could not close the deal.

Congrats Mike
Looking forward to get back to HogHeaven in feb :D
Just got home, and I need to unpack a little before posting about this weekend.
I think Ray needs to change the name of the HH to HDH -- I don't know if our group saw more pork or venison -- the hogs and deer were everywhere -- getting shots was a different story.
Also, I only have one suggestion for Ray -- I wouldn't use that big blunt anymore to try and put down a 300 lb hog -- even though you succeeded to do so :scared: But I'm happy that the damage to your truck was just a dent in the front.
Ray is a great host, and I can tell you that you will not go hungry. The meals are fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire weekend.
Mike (Squirrel Bait) is by far one of the most down-to-earth, nicest guys around. But watch out because there is talk that he might just be running around the woods in a loin cloth. BTW --Congrats on a great hog.
We had a great group. I had met one of the other members of our group, Jed Riddell (Gray Beard), last year. He is a great individual. The other 3 TGers were my son, Chris, Paul Kimbro (Dragon Rider), and Rich Kramer.
I don't think there was one hunt that most of the group didn't see hogs, deer, or turkeys.
I'm not much on story telling, so I am just going to show pics of interesting things found at HH.
The property holds a mystic all of its own. Abundant plant and wildlife galore.
A shot of the Savannah river:

Beautiful sunsets

Here are some of the things one might encounter:
A turtle sunning itself

A gator in one of the water holes (this one was seen almost snatching a herring and then quickly settling back into its camo hunting stance):

One of the darkest deer you'll find -- this one was a very dark grey:

A rub:
Don't know if this guy or one of the many bucks seen had anything to do with the rub

Once he identified his photographer as something that just didn't fit, he quickly exited stage left

I took my pup, Beau, hoping that he might get some tracking in over the weekend. Unfortunately, he only got a mock hog trail to run on, but he did good on the trail.

I did get a shot the last morning on a good hog, but it must have been a shoulder hit with no hog found. It was about a 20 yard shot and a little too low. No blood found -- retrieved the arrow (in 2 pieces).
Beau would have got a track from a doe I took the 2nd evening, but it was a good hit, and she went straight down in her tracks.
Pic taken just before leaving camp (changed into my street clothes).

Rich K.
