take the string off of the top limb and twist the string more to gain brace height and untwist the string to lose it.

I take the string off the bottom limb only and twist counter clockwise to shorten-clockwise to lengthen.
Bjorn, depends on if the stringmaker was lefty or not. Got a used bow once and the string was twisted up "backwards", still worked fine just had me confused a min or two while setting brace height..
upper vs bottom limb
which one and why?
Bottom limb only because the loop is around the top limb most of the time.It also will "hold" the string for you and give you something to twist against.Flip the bow upside down and pop the string off the bottom nock, pull it snug and give it a few twists. Then put the loop back in the groove. string the bow and see what you gained. It makes no diff.top or bottom tho.

THANKS!!

Exactly that! :readit:
Thanks for all the help guys. I changed the brace height to 7" and it is like shooting a different bow. I twisted the string from the bottom limb. Made a world of difference in accuracy and I think in speed too.
