like to get a good deer cart thats well built and easy to use
is there any really nice ones out there
Here's a picture of one I saw on craigs list. Looks like they took an old rototiller and built a frame around it and replace the tines with tires. Man was thinking that's for sure.

thanks for the reply Benbow but i mean the ones you take in the woods
Here's one of my favorite pics of myself with a deer. I got this cart at local outfitters store in Southern Maine. It was on sale and it seems to work fine for average size deer. I have another I got from Cabela's which is a bit easier to work with and will take a heavier load. We are about 1/2 mile in from where we park our truck and have to walk in and out. I don't know where I would be without the cart. I typically take them out in my canoe but the river has been so low lately that that isn't possible. We had a lot of rain yesterday/last nite so that may be better. I'll see tomorrow. But I don't see how you can loose getting a cart. Great for getting gear in and deer out.

No deer cart. I make my little brother haul mine.
Carts are smart! My bro and I use one all the time now. Use it to haul stands to and from the woods too. Great investment.
I hate my cart! went to a sled. much much better!!
I have a super mag hauler from Cabelas. I have used for the past 12 years and will say if it broke in half in the morning I would buy another just like it.
We have used a cart very similar to the one in the picture to haul moose out. Most often just a quarter at a time but we hauled a half of a smaller moose and it works great.
When I lived in mi. I used to use a wheel borrow really works, especialy if you can have some one on the front with a rope. I have taken many deer out that way. You would be supprised how will you can move it the woods with one
thanks guys for the replies i just had one put on hold @ cabelas its made by ameristep 300lb steel cart for 49.99 so i thought for my first cart to try the price was great
You will not be sorry. When not hauling deer or stands my daughter uses mine to bring in wood for the stove.
I absolutely love my Ameri-step non-typical. There are plus and minuses. It folds up like a backpack and has hauled out numerous 200+ deer with no problems. I can carry it on my back quite easy while on a blood trail. The wheels are canted outward for great stability. The majority of the deer's wt. is on the pivot.
One minus is that it is closer to the ground than some larger ones. It has not been a major problem for me though.
Good luck
Dan in KS
It's a must have piece of gear, love mine.

What he said. If the woods aren't wide open then a cart is useless. I borrowed my uncles to see how I liked it before I bought one and boy am I glad I did. It was actually easier to drag the deer because I couldn't get the cart in between trees. He hasn't used it after the first time either.
I might add after reading some of these. . . after 35 years of deer hunting- if I can not take one out on a cart then the knife comes out and it is boned out with the gutless method. I sure will never drag one again.
Just 2C
Dan
I used to wonder why anyone would need a cart for hauling deer out of the woods, until I grew up and also hunted public land a little. Now, I have decided that if I hunt public land anymore, I must get a cart because you can't drive very far at all onto public land here. If you wanna get back to where the deer are of any size, you gotta walk a good mile or more to get there. Woe unto the person that has to drag a nice buck out from a mile back in the woods and hills! A cart would be a must have unless you bone out the deer on the spot. Never done that in the woods before though.
Use a cart once & it'll pay for itself. I made mine & haul my climber & gear into the woods & deer out altogether.
pacopperhead they had this listed as a motorized game cart. :biglaugh: (http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o241/galnmax/poweredgamecart.jpg)
After my son and I dragged another doe out of the woods (about a mile back) opening day last season, I went right out and bought a cart. Haven't shot a deer since.
I have a Cabela's super mag hauler. Works great as long as the soil isn't too sandy. Has solid tires which are a must around here as well due to stickers. If I can't use the hauler it gets boned out on the spot. I'm not dragging a deer anymore.
I have used a Deer Cart the last few years, and they are the ticket. I can't imagine pulling one out any more.
In my opinion, they are less than 1/2 the work of dragging a deer out.
I'm not sure what brand mine is, however it does have the solid tires as well.
I had used a sled for years. This year I bought a cart. IMO the best money I have spent in a long time. Not only does it work for deer, but if you have stands and such to hang you can haul that also.
I've got the same Cabela's one as Bill except it has dual wheels. Very handy.

I don't know which cart is the best. But it is the best thing I've spent money on in the last several years.

Regular hand truck and rope.
Hey it works. :)
I have several carts. With a bad disc in the L4-L5, my draggin days are over. When in thick woods, you need to pick your path and take your time but I deal with it. Uneven ground can be tricky also. There was a game cart by the name "versacart" that had angled wheels that could be used for other tasks also. I would love to find one of those carts today.
Everything in life is give and take. Carts have there place/time to help make a difficult task a little easier.

Steve O awesome picture and cart!! i wanted to get the dual wheel kit and its discontinued, dag gone!! i really wanted those extra wheels it wouldve made the cart stronger and better rolling
Guess I'm gonna be odd man out...I've got one in the barn that hasn't been used in a couple of years..The places I hunt just aren't user friendly for a cart..Uneven,hilly,thick can't get a cart through most of it anyway..specially since the ice storm a couple of years ago...from now on I'll bone them out & get em out that way if it's very far from the truck...I can see were you would benifit in places were the woods were open & semi flat or open fields & crop lands...
I'm 57 and fell off a roof last year, I still hunt as far back as I can and getting deer out is now a major deal for me(my son and son-in law are not always available. After this year I am committed to getting a cart, and probably a sled for the tougher to reach spots. My body just can't do it anymore!
awesome im back in business i just located a dual wheel kit and will have the cart i want
i like the wheels Steve O has mine are steel wire spokes his look like big spokes
I have had the Cabela's Super Mag Hauler for quite a few years now. Love it! I was even lucky enough one year to get a buck and a doe and hauled them both out on the cart together in one trip with NO problems. I have back problems also and won't be dragging another deer anytime soon. You can get the dual wheel kit for the model I have and spoke covers also. I haven't gotten either of them though.
We use them all the time in Missouri
This is a fully guided deer hunt here

I'm a sled guy too. Ice fishing sled, besides deer I've taken out two elk with one.
I'm not smart enough to use wheels.
I know there are states where you must bring out the whole animal but in Utah all you need is evidence of sex and the skull plate with horns. I would never try to drag a deer out. I also don't use a cart because of the steepness and roughness of where I hunt. A deer is very easy to carry after it is boned out. There is not all that much meat on one. I'm used to carrying out elk. They are a little bigger. It takes some time to bone them right but is well worth it. Gary
Like a few have said . I don`t drag deer or pigs unless I am very close. I "Womack`em". Thats boned out on the spot and in the backpack. Very easy.
I do have a cart I made years ago from two old lawnmower handles and the back wheels from an old lawnmower. When I hunt a couple of stand near my house I use it so I don`t "draw" all the dogs in the neighborhood to my stands.RC

Here is my favorite game cart...

I have been using a dead sled for a few years now and I carry it the woods with me either strapped to my tree stand or to my back pack. Works great.

I have one of the folding steel game carts it has saved my butt more than once hauling deer and big hogs out of the woods. One time I had to drive my car(truck in shop) and couldn't cross a creek and had a buck down 1/2 mile away plus I had a walking cast on my foot.I wheeled that big buck out in 20 minutes never breaking a sweat!
I use a body bag from work(clean of course) it makes for an easy drag out.You can get Body bags from some of the military surplus stores.
I use mine when I am alone.I also use it to load my deer in the truck when I have no one like Nook to help me load them.LOL.Really works great when you drop the tailgate and slide the cart and all up onto the bed..

I need to put a comfortable seat on my deer cart, so I don't have to walk so much. I wonder how much one would expect to get paid for pulling me around. Right now I use a harness and pull mine behind my bicycle, it makes the long dirt road on the public land a bit shorter, and I can even pull it with a deer on it.

like everyone else spent time dragging deer, then used few cheap plastic sleds from walmart for kids in snow, worked okay. But my buddy bought a cart few years ago and man what a differance. years ago I seen some where on the net a guy made treestands that converted to carts, wish would of bought one. if have pivate land, can make your own ladder with wheels up top, and double it as a cart, seen this long time ago down in shawnee, worked great.
looks more like your using it for a wheelchair for handicap hunters! did it come with the nurses aid?
ttt
Here's mine in the background. This is the best investment I made more than 10 years ago. Can't stand the things with motors on them in my woods.

Longbowman, what brand is that?
Folds up nice from what I can see.
The cart works really good when you have your grandson to help push, pull and put up stands.
Same cart works well when hauling out your hunting buddy's deer.
it-m-grow, this is the "Alum-a-lite" cart I got from Cabelas 10 yrs. or so ago. The wheels can be removed with just a turn of a latch which comes in handy too for flat carrying in the car.
Thanks longbowman.
Used to have a cart, and found that the sled is much better.
I never tried the cart but I will say that I do like the sled a lot.
I made one out of black gas pipe and a couple of cart wheel's. Wheels come off and it hinges at the axle, so it folds flat. Here's mine hauling stands.
