My goodness it felt good to be deer hunting again! I've been at this for 33 years it just keeps getting better and better. Like a kid at Christmas all over again! I guess I'll never understand folks that "loose the urge",or have "no desire to hunt this year"....not me!
Great morning(saw three small bucks), but a bit on the windy side. Great morning to try out my new Sitka Stratus gear. Cut the wind like a sharp knife just like it's supposed to...another winner for Sitka!!

Every one of these trees had scars from being rubbed at least one time in prior years. A couple had two years worth of scars and a new rub on them! Very impressive!!
Looks very promiceing Guru! I love those spots that hold rubs year after year.
Get on him bro!!
Nice looking spot!! keep us posted!
Great photos. Beautiful hunting spot. Awesome rubs on the trees.
Looks like the markings of a dandy buck.
Nice spot!
At lease hang a camera in there.. Them some serious rubs for sure.
What a beautiful spot!
i love opening day as well, very windy here in western n.y. also.hunted on the ground, saw a few deer but, no shots,it's good to be out there again.
You definitely have a stud in the area.
Looks like that buck is pissed at the trees in your woods.Good luck hope you get him :D
Curt,Snufferize that buck for picking on those trees.
Good luck
Nice rubs! I was out this past week as well. It seems to me there were quite a few fresh rubs that have appeared in the last week or so.
So far no shots, so no pictures to show. Neighbor's dogs and erratic winds to blame. At least thats my story.
 I want to see a pic of the fellow that caused all that damage.
Looks like you just need to spend some time at that spot and you'll have him..No it never does get old..Good luck..
The stuff that dreams are made of , best of luck to you Curt !
Man I can't wait to see the maker of those rubs Guru...Looks like a nice one left those...
:campfire: :campfire: :coffee:
Go get that beast Curt!!
Dude - that's some nice rubs! Hope you at least get to see the big boy that made those....
Live it up Curt!!!
You never know when the next footfalls you hear coming through the woods will be from the beast that made the rubs. :campfire:
those are some serious rubs! Man i wish i had that much visiblity in the woods this time of year.
Save the trees, shoot that buck!
 Best of luck to you
nice pics
Thanx fellas...
Tough spot, very close to a road and the landowners house, and thick as heck....I guess that's why he's there.
Gotta figure something out....
wow
thats a beautiful patch of woods you're hunting mr curt.good luck to ya. ruddy
Drove an hour yesterday just to set a trail cam by these rubs and work a couple scrapes with some Smokey's pre-orbital and inter-digital gland scents.
The place is just ripped with scrapes and rubs...can't wait for the weekend!
Hopefully I'll at least get a pic of the guy doing this damage, but I'd really rather get a pic of me behind him holding up his head
Probably a big spike! :bigsmyl: Just kidding bud, hope ya get a chance at him!! Shawn
 That aint right Shawn. Lol.
Sounds like his core area Curt....do ya have a way in with a favorable wind and little noise? Might try getting in there super early and waiting him out.
Either way, good luck man.
Guru,
Good Luck.Great looking rubs,I hope you get the culprit that made them !!! Keep us posted.
Been hunting whitetails for a year longer than you Curt, so you probably remember the Jaws movie too.
"I think you need a bigger bow." ;)
I'm chasing one that's got some dandy size to him too. I'm hoping to share pics as well. Last pic I have of him is from 2 years ago as a 130 inch buck. He hangs out by the neighbors too on the edge of my parents cherry farm.
You might need some backup on the one making those rubs. I can be there in about 9 hours!!
Wow those are impressive rubs, like to see who made'em
Curt, if you got your mind set on placing a tag on the hombre who tore up those poor trees then I'm going to be watching for the hero picture. It won't be long now!
Looking good buddy.
 :campfire:
