Title: A Good Day Hunting
Post by: Bill Skinner on October 15, 2010, 05:56:00 PM
Opening day in Alabama, so I decided to head to the woods.  I have a C4 pinch that has been acting up recently, I can barely hold a cup of coffee in my left hand and I have very little strength in my left shoulder.  I was carrying an old Grizzly and some wood Bear arrows.  It was a nice low 40's morning, I decided to try some Corps of Engineer land on the Alabama River.  There are usually lots of hogs, also.  As soon as I got out of the truck and had moved about twenty steps into the woods I walked up on a nice 6 point.  I was not able to get an arrow out before he moved out of my rangs.  I moved on to a favorite spot and sat until 10 or so, I wandered around some looking for pigs with no luck.  I did try several stalks on squirrels, I got close enough for a shot on two but decided I didn't want to carry a bloody squirrel to my next stand.  I sat there until after noon, had a doe with a technially legal fawn, (no spots) but decided to pass.  Wandered on back to the truck about 3 or so, the dew had dried up so the leaves were very crunchy, couldn't get close enough for a shot on a squirrel on the way out.  It would have been better if I could have connected with that buck, but all in all, it was a great day to be in the woods.  Bill

I've been try'n to kill hogs. hunted 3 mornings no luck.I'm thinking about going in the evening.those hogs are hard to hunt I hate to shoot one right at night. My first year to bow hunt if things don't get better I might have to break out the RUGER REDHAWK.
