Title: best shot of the year
Post by: RC on October 12, 2010, 08:01:00 PM
Went got my MRI today for my tore up leg and won`t know anything till thursday at 9:00. Got home laid around a bit and got my longbow and grabbed a few arrows from the squirrel bucket....

I save all my bent arrows and straighten them best I can. A field point with a dime size washer behind it makes a heck of a tree rat head buster. I like most of all old judos with the springs shot off of them. Takes a lot of shots. I got a couple old ones with one or two prongs that are bad news for squirrels.

I was sitting under the oaks in the yard with my foot propped up. My Son came home from work and we were talking and a squirrel started from the branch headed towards the oaks. He was hoping along and my Son saw me ease my bow around and was laughing. He gives the old man trouble. He said"let me see you miss this squirrel". I eased the bow back and the squirrel ran up the side of a tree 24 yards away and I shot for his head figuring he would head upwards. He did`nt and I shot about two inches low. My Son went inside to get his bow....

Todays squirrel with the two tails from yesterday..

I shoot recurves best of all but I love shooting sweet longbows.RC

RC great shooting! Aim small miss small. If ya need a vacation you can come on up here. I have plenty of those tree rats running around here. Unfortunatly my shooting isn't as good as yours maybe you could show me some pointers. Hope you heal up soon.

Sorry to hear about your leg. Hope all goes well. Regarding the squirrel's, that is some good shooting my friend. Lot smaller target than those "hogs' you like to stick. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
