It finally happened for me this morning. Sat in stand about 45 minutes and hear a bunch of deer on the run coming my way. Something must have spooked them cause they were really moving. 3 does run right in front of me and stop at about 30 yards. 2 more does show up about 3 minutes later. I just kept thinking about how bad my odds are getting with all those eyes and noses down there to see or scent me. 1 doe eventually worked her way into 20 yards but was behind brush. My heart started beating out of my chest because I new i was so close to getting my first trad shot on a deer. She eventually worked her way into 15 yards and presented me a perfect broadside shot. I come to full draw but when i release i immediately see the arrow going high and just when i thought it was going to be a clean miss, I connect with a spine shot dropping her. I really need to work on the nerves a little bit for future hunts, but i have never felt more proud than i do today with my first trad kill.

Congrats on your first of many to come.
Looks like an innovative deer cart you have, there!
congrats!nothing like the first.
I shot my first one high as well, so I thought. I found it the next day double lung, I think it's like a quarterback in the NFL our Brett Favrve, he gets so jacked up his first throw of the game is always high.
You will be ready for the next deer and after your first with Trad gear there will be a next.
Congratulations. :dunno:

Great stuff RTH!! Congratulations!
Congrats on your first and hope you keep on`m.RC
The hand truck i used to cart the deer would have worked alot better if there was air in the tires. Ive had it laid up for awhile and didnt realize there was no air until the deer was strapped on. :banghead: It still worked better than dragging.
:clapper:
Congratulations!

Thats a fine deer,congrats!
congrats
Congrats!nice doe.
:clapper: Nice job! The first is the hardest for sure.
Great Job, high shot or not it's still a kill. I like the Brett Favre explaination about being all jacked up and throwing high....more truth to that than anybody realizes.
I'm still waiting on my first kill with Trad gear, but I already know how jacked up I got on a coyote at 18 steps and I did exactly the same thing....shot high and sailed it right over his back.
I don't know if I could have kept it together any better than you did? Probably not, but usually I can control myself on deer.....I hope I get the chance to find out.
Go whack yourself another one!
Semo_Hunter your chance will come, nothing so exciting as drawing back and loosing an arrow instinctive.
I also agree with being all jacked up and shooting high.
Congratulations!
Good for you!
Awesome!! Hopefully the first of many....
Nicly done sir!
Way to go, Congrats.
Congrats, put a picture on the wall as you only get one first!
Not sure how I missed this one, but I see it now!
The "nerves" thing ...well, you never really get over it, but learn to somehow deal with it a bit.
Anyhow, sincere, heartfelt congratulations!!!
And while we are at it, MANY happy returns!
Great Job. Once you figure out how to completely control the nerves let us all know. I think that is part of what keeps us all coming back. Nice doe.
