Knives on armguards,,, does the knife go on the top or on the bottom of the guard?
Do you ever get the string caught behind the handle of the knife when shooting?
Trying to make one for the wife,,, Shh!
well I'm no armguard maker...but I ordered mine with the knife on top and the handle facing away from my elbow (blade pointing towards my elbow). just seemed like a much more natural way to get at your knife.

Joe
I have one that was made by my friend Andy Duffy,The knife rides on the bottom of the armguard, point foward.A real nice piece.Good luck Joe
Put em up on the top of the arm, never had a problem.
Glenbo,
I had the pleasure of shooting with your friend, Andy, in 09 at Cloverdale. He is as good a shot with a bow than with his shotguns.
Brother put it on the top and turn it around so the handle is facing you. as when ya keep takeing it out it will get loose and it just might fall out. just my 2 cents worth
Thanks again for the input! I'm going for the top & point forward. Will post a pic when done!!
Jeff, sorry I missed your call! I'll try calling you this evening. Ihraer you're coming to the US???
I have one I made the knife is on top the handle toward the elbow. Used for ten years no problem.
What ever works for you, but I would also make the arm guard just a bit wider than normal to allow the knife more clearance.
nothing ever gets caught in between the hand and the arm guard when going through brush,,,, I guess it depends on the terrain but I'd opt for the knife on the bottom and the handle facing back,,,,,, then just bend your forearm up, reach behind and the knive comes out fast and perfect for when that bear has ya down (and thats not a joke)..
Joe, Check out the peg type fastener for your loop that will hold the knife in like Tim at far west uses. As handy as you are I bet you could fashion one out of a piece of deer horn that would look awsome. That's what I plan to do when I get around to building one.
I have got to finish up a couple of quivers for a couple good fellers here that are long overdue.
You missed a great time at the hunt this weekend but I know how work go's Maybe you can make it next time.
Stiks
Don't know about other places but in Texas we wear a knife on our belt or carry it in our pockets..We haven't got that "fancy".
Okay here's my version. The wife seemed to like it and that's what I was after!
Been working on some Primitive & TGMM arrows too!
