Shot this coyote while he was trying to catch a fox squirrel.
Good deal. I`ve never killed a yote. Some Turkey poults this year thank you.RC

Joe
PS cool
That is huge. Wow more story please.
Nice Denny - good pic, good shooting
Denny,
I know you are a big man. That yote alongside you shows just how big he really is. That's some great shooting.
Bill
Very nice, Denny. I think the thread title should have been "Song dog SINGS NO MORE!"
Nice job Denny. Thats a tuff bow kill right there.
Man, very tall coyote!
Denny, you are the man. You got me into this trad thing without even knowing it. Thanks! Dave
Very nice kill. Something to be proud of. I would hate to think I had to make a living killing coyotes with my bow only! I for sure would be broke in no time, as those things are very hard to bag with a bow.
Nice shot... I like the look of your longbow; who made your longbow?
that is a biggun!
Good doggie!!!
That's a great looking dog. Well done mate.
Way to go Denny! He's a toad!
Denny great photo, your respect for that coyote is what it is all about. thanks tm
Most excellent.
Thanks for sharing that Denny.
I'm sure that was one happy squirrel. That's a biggie.
That is a BIG yote, what part of mi. did you get him? The reason I asked is I am from Mi.Clare area, but I have out here about 20Yrs.
You'll get fleas holding a coyote like that. hah! ;)
Congrats on a nice 'yote!
Beautiful coyote, Congrats!!
Good shooting made a super cool pic.
WOW he is lanky! Congratulations, he is a great looking coyote.
Great job Denny, they are tough to get a shot at most times!
 Good shooting! Congrats!

Probably one of the most challenging animals to take with a bow.Every time I've had them come in they were real nervous and never stopped moving.Nice shooting,he looks like a big one,did you weigh him?
Way to go Denny.
Even dead, he STILL has a surprised look on his face!!!
Great job Denny...
Yo mate, did you plink him in the family jewels?
Darn fine shooting..........LOL.
Great photo !
I love the blues esspecially when sung by wile e coyote. :notworthy: Nice job Denny
I've seen some big yotes, and either you're a small person, or that one big pup. Congrats
That is a big yote!
..I love slicing ..."YOTES" !!! Nice job on it !
Nice shot, all I've gotten this season was a squirrel that was alerting the woods to my being there.
But its been fun regardless.
Nice Dog Denny! Great job on the photo also... ...
... mike ...
Thanks everyone. It was my first coyote. I didn't think it was very big; it weighed 36#.
Rufus25, I shoot Black Widow PLX longbows. I fogged it with some flat camo paint.
penrosefred, I shot it in the southern part of the lower peninsula.
Way to go buddy! Whenever I've killed one, it feels like killing a P&Y buck!! :clapper:
Very difficult to draw on a coyote, yet to hit one. They die hard too! Congrats.
Congrats
Denny Sturgis = killin machine!
Now that's a great Hero shot.
Well done Denny.
That is one big yote. Congrats!!
Nice shooting, Denny, but there must be more to the story. Were you on the ground or in a stand? I think taking one from the ground would be the ultimate in difficulty. Even from a tree stand would be darn tough.
I got to within about 20 yards of a big male once, but he disappeared into the brush before I could get an arrow drawn. They are smart and spooky critters for sure.
Nice going- they just don't stand still for me, always seem like they have some place to go.
way cool.. nice job. I have seen a few but never even got to full draw!
Good work! Saved some deer for bowhunting!
One predator takes another, Congrats! :notworthy:
Great job with the yote control.
Congratulations Denny... :readit:
Are you going to have a full mount? He'll fit right in to your trophy room.
good shootin denny. On a side note the bow I am shooting currently belonged to you first!! Its a 68# two piece osage black widow with Byron Ferguson's signature on it. Shoots like a dream. I am hoping to take a yote with it this year since we have quite a number on some of my hunting properties.
Nice
Nice going Denny....I finally killed my first one a couple years back, after missing many times. A great trophy with a bow. Congrats.
:bigsmyl:
30coupe, I was hunting for deer from a treestand so it was just a random encounter.
Ron, The coyote was 25 yards away, and trotting 1/4ing away when it cleared. Arrow entered just ahead of the hip and came out just ahead of center. It ran about 35 yards in sight, fell over and then got up and went into some thick swamp grass. I waited a full hour before tracking. In my limited experience Mike Theis is right on when he said, "they die hard." The Woodsman head must have cut something good because it was laying only 5 yards into the grass stiff with rigor.
I think my shot was much better than yours! :saywhat:
I have it in the freezer, it deserves to at least have a head mount.

He deserved a full mount

Ron, that's about the same color as the one I tried to sneak up on...real blond. Once he saw me he put it in gear and left, but apparently didn't go very far. As I was walking out from my stand (I had bumped him on the way in) he cut loose with a howl about 30 yards from me. Let me tell you, those guys are LOUD up close!
I tag along with my cousin when I can. He hunts them with trail hounds. We don't usually kill them unless the dogs do. That way they are there to run again the next time. We don't have that many in our area, but east a ways, there are loads of them. They are very interesting creatures.
That is one long legged yote! Nice! How is the pelt?
Roger, It isn't bad, but probably not at its best. I'll try and shoot another that is bigger than Ron's. :)
Wait a month or so...when they are "fluffier" :bigsmyl:

Mmmmmm, lets see, How many years did it take for you to shoot your first yote? At that rate you'll be an old man and I won't be around to see it when you get the next one...
That's a toad! Good job!
Now that is a nice "yote". Good shooting and thanks for sharing.
