...and i decided to chronicle my journey with it. :) Its a vintage Wing Slim Line Corsair. it's only a 20# bow so its really just a beginners bow... but i love it.
I took it to the range yesterday 10/8/10, completely as is. it took a quick visit to the pro shop in the morning to make sure it was safe to shoot (not that i really had any doubts but better to be safe then sorry0, and then it was off to the range. we got there really late so the pics are really grainy. the pics were taken with my iphone...no flash.
I dont have a set of arrows, all the arrows i used were generously given to me by some of the super nice folks here on TG! thanks guys! you guys are the best and i really appreciate it. I shot it off the shelf, at what i believe is 10 or possibly 15 yards (but im leaning more towards 10) and this is a few of the shots

I should also note that all the arrows are different lengths, with different feathers, and probably different weights. like i said, they were donated to me. i really cant afford arrows at the moment. (since its my birthday i might get some cash and invest in some arrows.)
Also i know nothing about how to aim a traditional bow. what little i know i read from the book "How to shoot a stickbow." which is extremely informative, but i find little time to read as there are other things id rather be doing. hahaha! like shooting!
so i figured id post pics of my hopeful progress and see how things go. i flung two arrows at the 20 yard range... one flew super low, the other super high. but i didnt loose any. unfortunatly i let a friend try and she lost two arrows. so im down to four. oh well. I also have a judo point that i want to try in the yard... but first homework!
That's awesome! Keep shooting arrows and you'll naturally get more consistant. By trying to repeat your form the same each time will lead to tighter groups. just keep using what you have for now and eventually you'll have matching arrows which will reflect how consistant you actually are. Thanks for taking us along for your journey...Ryan
Keep flinging em. You'll get the hang of it. You're doing good.
There ya go! Not bad groups at all for the first time out! And it appears that all of the arrows are sticking into the target pretty much straight. Makes our theory on tuning make sense eh?
When I bring you the other two arrows I'll bring the masters of the barebow DVD. It'll help a bunch
Excellent Irene!! Get after it! How about some pix of the rocket slinger?
It is wonderful to see your enthusiasm.
Time with my bow is my peace.
With all the different lengths of arrows, you made lots of good shots. And since this was your first time out, you did great.

Good shooting!!
I hope it is as enjoyable for you as it is for me and others here.
I get an amazing relaxed feeling when shooting.
God bless,Mudd
thanks so much guys! i have pics of the bow in my other thread... i'll post em here too!

This is as she came. i will eventually remove the shelf rest, and give it a good cleaning, and figure out what i want to replace the rest with. for now she shoots just fine the way she is. :)
that was good shooting.once you get the right arrows, you will be shooting even better.keep up the good work, steve  :clapper:
Kool..Lets see a pic of you shooting. :archer2:
Irene. That is a pretty bow! Once you get her cleaned up she will be a show stopper!
thanks guys. no pic of me shooting yet. :p im kind of camera shy.
Yeah i had planned on cleaning it up thursday, but i got caught up making a makeshift quiver out of a kids golf club bag. :D Hahaha!
Amazing how much fun you can have with a 20lb stick and string :)
I was diggin through a box of old shafts trying to put up stuff from when I just moved my archery shop and noticed this post and you not having matching arrows. I have 5 easton platinum 1713's that I will fletch and send to you if you want them. They should work just fine out of the light bow.
Hope one day soon you can shoot as nice as that bow looks! Classic! As you progress, maybe one of the local bow docs can build it up in draw weight for you.
it is amazing. I love listening to the sound the arrow and string make. that twang is really hypnotizing.
thanks guys! Straitera... i think id rather it stay the way it is and then later down the road save some money and buy a heavier bow. though i dont fore-see myself having something thats like 60+ pounds. i like lighter weights. i really dont plan on hunting so lighter is cool with me. :)
Smokin feathers... PM being sent your way. :)
Keep shooting, looks like you are doing just fine!
Good shooting Irene!! Glad to see your having fun!
That's a fine looking recurve. If it would have been 35#-36# at my draw length and if I would have found her, I would have bought her.
thanks so much! <3
10/21/10: got to finally lay in a few more volleys today. Also took my boyfriends brother with us, so it was fun teaching someone new to archery. :) he says he'll come out with us the next time hes in town. (he goes to school upstate.) So i have a few more badly lit pics for you guys. :D I got a hanging bag target for my birthday... so i need to get some arrows and a rug for back drop and maybe then i can practice more consistently.

Also do you guys have a specific way of recording your shots? the paper targets arnt mine and are provided by the course. i dont know if they allow us to bring our owns and take down the others... so any other suggestions. since i have an array of mix matched arrows... im finding it hard to have consistency since their all different... and then hard to find which arrows are the ones working better then others.
" 10/21/10: got to finally lay in a few more volleys today."
I like that description of practice, it's cool!
thanks danny bows! :D
you might want to take your arrows to the pro shop and have them spine and weight them for you so you have an idea of witch are the same!! And them just shoot the one that match!
God luck and keep us posted!!
Hmmm I never thought of that David. Good idea. :)
