Our turkey season opened this passed weekend and so far they have my number.
But I never pass up the opportunity to try a sneak on a woodchuck when given the chance.
Two sneaks, two chucks...
First one was killed on Saturday, at about 10yds. as he filled up on clover...

Kinda graphic... but this what happens on a hard quartering away chuck when shooting 160 Snuffers...

This one was killed on Sunday. I first spotted him at about 100yds. He was standing up with an apple between his front legs. holding it like he had hands. I only had one way to to attempt a stalk. About half way to him I could tell he smelled me and he slowly made his way, with his apple, to the safety on the brush. Likely where his holes were.
I continued to sneak just in case he was still there in the brush and hadn't gone into one of his holes.
As I closed to about 8yds. I could see he had indeed hesitated and was sitting on his mound in front of a hole. He was very well hidden. If I hadn't seen him before, I'd have walked right by him.
I got on one knee and found a tiny hole to shoot through. The 160 Snuffer found its mark behind his front leg.

Hope to have a turkey pic or two soon
Woodchucks are one of my favorite "bonus" critters to hunt. Nice stalk :clapper:
Those Snuffers do a number on an animal!
Some tough critters there.Congradulations.
Nice shooting Curt!! I'm sure it's just a matter of time buddy and one of those turkeys will make a mistake.

Got a chuck that hangs out on the farm I hunt... they are not common along the river. Should he and I meet, they will be more scarce.
Cool stuff bud! Good luck with the birds. I had one calling not far from my stand the other morning. Obviously looking for company and me without a call. I made sure I had a call in my pack after that.
I'm not sure there is a better broadhead for chucks than the 160 Snuffer.
  :archer:
Very Nice Buddy!
Good deal Guru. Are you using your Ghillie to hunt the birds?RC
Those chucks are tough to get, nice shooting.
Thanx fellas :notworthy:
Yes Robert, as long as it's not raining, I'm using my ghillie. If Cade wants to go, then I'll use the blind as well.
Have yet to get myself into a real good situation, but I hope to change that this weekend :archer2:
"Two sneaks, two chucks..."
Can`t beat that.
They are smart buggers. We had/have, a couple of them that raid our garden. Our garden is outside of our enclosed backyard, and my wife and daughter can step out and walk to the garden, and the chucks just stand up and look at them before slowly moving off. But if me or one of the boys even poke our head over the fence, they are gone in a flash.
Good luck turkeys...the boogey man is coming.
Good thing neither of them put a full charge on ya. Good luck with a bird and nice shooting on those chucks.
Like Jim said, they're tough to get.Well done!
Good shooting, good stalking
Congrats!

How much wood could a wood chuck chuck?
NONE!! after he met Guru and his Snuffer,Great shooten :clapper:
Good eating too!
Good luck on the birds Brother. You better keep on`em, the way that young man of yours is growing you`ll be running the camera for him full time soon.RC
Mighty fine shooting bro!
Just curious...What's your fletching set up with your 160 snuffers?
SNUFFERIZED
Thanx fellas...
Ryan, Just regular 5" parabolic, 3 fletch on those arrows.
I have some other arrows that are set up to shoot out of that bow that have 4" fletch.
They're just like any other broadhead, it's all about spine. If they're tuned, it doesn't take much fletch to make them fly well.
Good shootn Guru.
