Hey yawl,I am considering this jig and was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with it. I am used to Bitz's, but just can't afford them for the amount of jigs I need.
Thanks in advance
dave
i got one in right helical and it works fine. you can adjust a lot of things and its easy to use. Only minus for me is that the clamp is out of plastic, makees it harder to get spilled glue off.
Odd that you would say that. The Martin fletching jig is made out of plastic, one of its advantages over the Bitzenberger is that glue does not stick to it. Must be made out of a different kind of plastic than the Bearpaw.
You might want to consider the Martin J8, $39.99 at 3 Rivers. It does everything the Bitz does, and also allows you to micro-turn the fletch position if you're not quite happy with the fixed positions. That has been one of my complaints of the Bitz, as I've ordered replacement indexers, and they don't line up in exactly the same location as my old ones do. The Martin is not constructed quite as solidly as the Bitz, but it works well enough if you screw it to a plank of wood.
Not saying that the Martin is any better or worse than the Bearpaw, as I have no experience with that, just another option.
Good jig with no problems.
I like it, took me a bit to get used to how to adjust it. I got the plate they hook onto and I really like that feature.
I like mine.
I l;ike mine better than the bitz jigs I was using.
Wow that's great news thanks for all the info fellas
