Well, Bow hunting has been great! The actual harvesting part has not been so good! It is obvious the deer, were I hunt, are completely noctural. I thought at first it may be due to the heat. However, two cool weekends in a row confirm a lack of deer movement until dark. This is in an area with little hunting pressure ... so far.
I ahve been wondering about adding a curiousity scent up wind of suspected bedding areas ... perhaps a doe tarsal gland. Also been playing around with tickeling antlers a bit. It is early for such behavior but I am out of ideas on how to see a deer in the daylight. Any ideas?
Bob.
Are you hunting around acorns? I was in your situation early this year. But Once I found the acorns the deer are feeding on my sighting increased alot more.
Just a thought for you?
As far as scent imo an all season scent may work a bit better.
Thanks Dave, I wil look into it. As to the acorns, it is like waling on marbles in the woods. WHite and Red acorns are everywhere. I don't think ht edeer gotta move far at all to food , they just got to look down.
LOL...that my be the problem right there... Too many acorns? Like you said they don't have to travel, just look down.
Good luck
