Last week there was a topic on acorns.... I put my two cents in and added that I had a feeling that I would get my first deer with my recurve this weekend. Well it happened. It was a small button buck that I thought was a doe. I would be embarrassed if it wasn't my first traditional deer. I couldn't be happier and my dad was just as happy as I was.
I just wanted to thank everyone on this site that unknowingly helped me become a traditional hunter. Most of you have forgotten more then I'll ever know about bows and arrows.... Thanks again.

Way to go Blaine!
QuoteI would be embarrassed if it wasn't my first traditional deer
I would like to think that no hunter would be embarrassed by a deer.
Congrats!
Awsome!! :clapper: :clapper:
Embarrassed by what? Just enjoy.
Congratulations
Let me rephrase. I wouldn't have shot him with a rifle but, since I never looked any other place except where I wanted to hit I didn't know.
The acorns were falling like rain. I can't wait to get back.
Congrats.
Nice job!
Congratulations Blaine!
You have a lot to be proud of as does your dad.
The best way to say thank you is to "pay-it-forward".
There may be someone near you that you can offer help to or when you see a need.. jump in.
God bless,Mudd
PS: Pictures would be nice!
First cut is the deepest. Good job.

x 2!
Good for you! Nothing to be embarrassed about with that. That will be good eating. The first one I took over 40 years ago was a small button buck and I remember when I took it to the check station I was getting some negative comments from some of the guys standing around. The game warden walked over, stuck out his hand and said congratulations and then turned to the guys and said "Where's yours?" That shut them up, then he said, "besides when they are that small they are even harder to hit. This kid made a nice shot".
Awesome and how about pics. Its like having a baby and not sharing pics. What are you Hollywood now. :biglaugh:
I took one with my phone. I'll see what i can do.
Good for you brother, keep after them.
Any Deer with Traditional equipment is a Throphy in my book. Great job friend.
sounds good NICE JOB
Blaino, First off congrats on your first, there will be many more..
The worth of the Trophy is desided by you and you alone....
As said above any animal taken with trad gear is a trophy...
P.S. Pics would be nice...
Later....Buzz
Great job. If anything a small button buck has a much smaller vital area than a big buck. Nice shooting.
ok i got the picture saved to my computer but, i can't figure out how to post it on here.
i'm at work and i can't go to photobucket. I'll try when i get home.
My first trad kill was a BB too. That was many years and many deer ago. Good luck with the rest of those acorns.
Way to go! :clapper: I'm 42 and still waiting on my first!
Congratulations, Blaino! I'm hoping for my first trad deer this year, too and I will shoot the first legal deer I get an opportunity on. We had an early doe season in my part of PA and on the opener, I saw four does but they were beyond my range (35 yards - I'm only good to 20). A few days later I had one pass by me broadside at 8 yards... only problem, it was a buck. Now the regular (buck & doe) archery season is on! Again... congrats!
Congrats, the first of many to come. :clapper:
Congratulations,
My first Trad deer was also a button buck many moons ago. Still remember it like it was yesterday and you will too.
Way cool! As for forgetting more than you'll ever know...
You are way younger than I was when I took my first deer with a bow. Could be that soon I will be asking YOU questions, especially after the dementia sets in. :D
What you have gathered is sweet meat for the body and the soul, and that deer will live forever in your heart. I rejoice with you in the magic that this moment holds.
Killdeer
 Great job!!! Be some fine eating too!
good job. I want to see pics..
Joe

Don't be embarrassed, I've shot elk, but never shot a deer with my bow- they're too smart for me.
Congratulations
