Went hunting yesterday afternoon to chill (windy and cool enough) as there's been some family drama of recent.
Saw one tiny fawn at 15 yds. No big deal.
What was neat..........tufted titmouse, quite a few flying about in the thicket. One landed by my head, then hopped on my arrow (bow across thighs, arrow nocked).
He hopped a couple of times and got up to the riser and took a single peck on it, then flew off.
Pretty cool.
I've had 2 other instances on other hunts other places, where birds have landed on my arrow while I held the bow.
In all 3, same species of bird.
Had a squriel come down the tree I was sitting in. Could feel him touch my hat then make a low growl. Finaly tryed to get on my hat, hat moved. Sit the rest of the morning with pine bark down my back. Gota Love It.
Ain't Nature cool!
Thats the best part of hunting sometimes.
Same sit, had my safety belt tug, it was a piney part way on it.
Left the High Standard at home :(
Last xmas I had mice, a small covey of quail, and birds at my feet in a ground blind every day I hunted it. The deer stayed a healthy 10-15' away. I shot at and missed the ol 9 pointer I was there for. Should have grabbed a few of the quail!
